Friend of mine has an issue with his school district.  It is his belief that the school district is not conforming to state law in the way it handled an issue related to his child.  He's followed the district's normal appeals processes, etc. to no avail.  When he points out they are inconsistent with state law, he hears, "That is our process."

Can anyone recommend an Austin-area attorney that might be able to help?

Feel free to PM me.  I have been intentionally vague, as I do not want to dox him or the district at this point.  It seems he's done everything by the book and the district might be skirting the law in this specific case.

If he has a child under the special education umbrella, he may be able to get somewhere if he hires a professional advocate. We were able to get a teacher removed, an apology from the assistant superintendent for special education in Fort Bend and 40 hours of compensatory services. Another child received 200 hours.

This was our last step before hiring an attorney. I wish your friend well.

1. Talk to teachers
2. go to Special Education Director & Diagnostician
3. Get Principal involved.

4. Superintendent's Office involved to confirm interpretation/ execution of ARD paperwork. There is no limit on ARD Meetings, and if you don't want to lawyer up yet, get someone with education expertise to go with you or seek out an advocate for SPED cases.

At any point in that process you get sick of their shit, lawyer up, which may already be where they are at.
