This is 5000% true.  America has a horrible tradition of racism.  Absolutely horrible.  But what is OK to say in polite company in parts of Europe would never fly in the US.  Central and south americans can imigrate to Spain pretty easily, so there are lots of Argentenians, Venzuelans, Brazilians, etc. here.  They get tons of shit and for the most part hate Spainards.

The Italians tend to reserve their choice words for anyone from the African continent.  They're not big fans of Albanians or Romanians either.

Looks like he was also a plaintiff in a suit against Fauci back during COVID.  So, yeah, a full-on fascist.

Oh, and he'll be promoted to a senior position at DOJ for this.  That said, a motion to disqualify him for personal animus may get some traction.....won't disqualify him, but will let the judge know he's a shitheel and will undermine a judge giving him any benefit of the doubt.

Feds to target “criminals and illegal immigrants” in Houston-area development, Abbott says

Federal immigration authorities on Monday planned to conduct a targeted operation on "criminals & illegal immigrants" in a housing development outside of Houston that’s been under scrutiny from conservative lawmakers and media for selling land to undocumented people, Gov. Greg Abbott said.

Abbott said in a social media post that he had worked with President Donald Trump's immigration adviser, Tom Homan, “for months” to target Colony Ridge, a 33,000-acre development some 30 miles outside of the nation’s fourth-largest city.

Conservative influencers, outlets, think tanks and Texas lawmakers had dubbed it as a safe haven for undocumented people, often painting it as a cartel-run crime hub.

The extent of any enforcement was not immediately clear. Spokespersons for the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Texas Department of Public Safety and Abbott did not respond Monday morning to requests for more information.

When was this first developed? Someone wants that land.

The developer donated a million to Abbott. They deport the homeowners, foreclose and the developer just re-sells it. Then donates another million to Abbott

A Houston Landing investigation found the developer reacquired 45 percent of the 35,000-plus properties it has sold since 2012. A Landing analysis of county records found residents returned 15,759 properties to Colony Ridge over the last decade, reflecting how thousands of people have had their dreams of homeownership stripped away from them.

ICE and CBP are starting to dissapear non-citizens into their custody for weeks at a time. Seemingly just because they can.

Quote

Lofving said Brösche told her about her time in custody — and a particularly difficult nine-day period in what amounted to solitary confinement in a CBP holding cell.

“She says it was like a horror movie,” Lofving said. “There were people screaming from the rooms all around. They are feeding her through a little mailbox hole. She didn’t have a blanket, she didn’t have a pillow. It’s basically a yoga mat on the ground and a toilet on the corner.”

Spending that many days in one of CBP’s short-term detention facilities appears to be a violation of the agency's own internal detention standards, which, “generally limit detention in these facilities to 72 hours,” according to a 2023 report from the Office of Inspector General.

Inspectors conducted unannounced inspections of four short-term facilities in San Diego and El Centro. They found that of the 447 migrants detained in all four stations, 42% of them exceeded the 72-hour standard, with some being there for more than 20 days.

Brösche told friends that the prolonged confinement has impacted her mental health.

“After nine days, she says she started freaking out and punching the walls,” Lofving said. “There was blood everywhere.”

Brösche was transferred to the ICE Otay Mesa facility after that episode. She has been there since.

Lofving and Paschen say they still don’t know when Brösche will be released. Their questions to ICE have gone unanswered. The agency did not respond to an inquiry from KPBS.

This poor woman is STILL in custody of ICE, who has been held more than two weeks past her return flight home to Berlin.

“People are scared to go out because they go out with their kids, and they don’t want to go to a place where (people are) going to show up with guns to check whether they’re a U.S. citizen or not.”   New: Homeland Security raids at Abby's Bakery in the RGV have divided an already politically shifting community in South Texas.

Ananias says she was separated from her American boyfriend, shouted at and mocked by US border officials, and detained overnight in a cold, shared holding cell without access to medication. After 22 hours of incarceration, the hammer fell: despite having broken no laws and holding the same valid B2 visa under which she previously hiked the PCT and CDT, she was deported back to Germany and handed a five-year ban on re-entering the United States.

Alexis Eagles, of Abbotsford, said her 35-year-old daughter, Jasmine Mooney, entered the U.S. at the San Ysidro border crossing between Mexico and San Diego on March 3 with an incomplete application for a Trade NAFTA work visa.

She said U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested her and she spent three nights in the detention centre at the busiest land border crossing in the world. Mooney has not been charged with any crime and does not have a criminal record.

blah blah blah, the cruelty is the point.  Kid should have chosen her parents better.  Not sure when everyone is going to grasp that "the more utterly cruel, the better" is our entire national ethos right now.

Another green card immigrant detained and held for unspecified reasons. This time “violent interrogation“ is alleged. The guy is an electrical engineer from Germany, with a family, including US born children. I guess it isn’t safe for green card holders to leave the country.

And note that we’re purposefully targeting citizens of our allies, like the UK and Germany.
We are a hostile nation to all of our former allies now. And an ally to only a handful of nations, including Russia and Hungary.
Bottom line, we completely switched sides overnight.

The executive is now fully ignoring the judicial branch, and it's orders.

BBC: US deports hundreds of Venezuelans despite court order

Planes carrying more than 200 Venezuelans deported by the US have landed in El Salvador, hours after a US judge ordered the Trump administration not to do so.

El Salvador's president, Nayib Bukele, wrote on social media that 238 members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua had arrived, along with 23 members of the international MS-13 gang, on Sunday morning.

Their arrival in the central American nation came after a federal judge blocked US President Donald Trump from invoking a centuries-old wartime law to justify the deportations - something Bukele made fun of in a later post.

"Oopsie... Too late," he said.

The move by the US to send alleged criminals from other countries to El Salvador was an arrangement US Secretary of State Marco Rubio previously called "the most unprecedented and extraordinary migratory agreement anywhere in the world".

Bukele wrote that the detainees were immediately transferred to El Salvador's Terrorism Confinement Center (Cecot) "for a period of one year", something that was "renewable" - suggesting they could be held there for longer.

"The United States will pay a very low fee for them, but a high one for us," he added.

Rubio confirmed the alleged gang members arrival in El Salvador and thanked Bukele, calling him "the strongest security leader in our region".

Hours before, on Saturday evening, US District Judge James Boasberg ordered a halt to deportations covered by Trump's proclamation, which invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.

The law allows the government to detain and deport people threatening the country's safety without due process.
