There’s a lot to be pissed off about reading that story, but what really got me is how shitty that CBP officer was. Since the major Canadian airports are pre-cleared, that asshole lives and works in Canada as a guest of the Canadian government. You would think most normal people would have more respect for people that they interact with at the grocery store, Tim Horton’s, etc.

Horrible, but I guess she's also lucky she didn't get detained for several days like the Canadian woman in San Diego. She was placed in a room with other women with no explanation. Then after 6 days, she and the other women were moved to Arizona. She got out after 12 days. https://archive.is/k34Pr

Our national motto -- or at least of a sizable portion of our nation now -- is "emboldened assholery."  All brakes/checks are OFF.  These folks are now free to be as huge an asshole as they ever dreamed of being.

If you willingly want to work for CBP under this administration, you're as shitty a person as they come.

This is the job where they get to exercise their power (NATIONAL SECURITY) because they are tiny dick assholes

Oh man. These are my people. God fucking dammit. The thru hiking community is an amazing and caring one. Seeing how these people were treated makes my blood boil. He says it in the last couple of pages of that post: the cruelty is the point.

time to put TSA of custom agents up there with realtors from Frisco and podcasters from ATX, you know, the true Americans

I am genuinely second guessing visiting Texas this summer. What a time to be alive

There's understandably been a ton of focus on the El Salvador deportations, but all this noise about college students getting yanked out of SEVIS is nuts.  The transcripts from these court cases where no one can explain what any of this means is wild.

The ACLU should get on this via a Bivens action for violation of constitutional rights of the attorney and the represented party.  The lawsuit should include a subpoena of records of both ICE and AT&T regarding his wifi service on that day.  And it should seek injunctive relief against ICE 1) shutting off the wifi of any suspect or affiliate of same (like their attorneys) without a warrant, and 2) enjoining ICE from questioning any legal counsel without specific basis to investigate conduct beyond the provision of legal services.

This is classic gestapo shit, and if the feds had done so with respect to a J6 accused and his attorney, every single Trumper would be up in arms about it (and justifiably so).

The lie from DHS here is especially shocking.  "Yeah, we arrested this American citizen and locked him up for 10 days, but it's his fault because he told us he's from Mexico and wanted to turn himself in."  Seriously, what in the ever loving fuck is that.

So, apparently, this happened

The wife of a wrongly deported Salvadoran father living in Maryland was moved to a safe house after Donald Trump’s administration posted a court document that included her address on social media.

In an interview with The Washington Post, Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s wife Jennifer Vasquez Sura said she began fearing for her safety and the safety of her three children after the Department of Homeland Security shared a protective order from 2021 that prominently featured her address to the department’s 2.4 million followers on X.

File this under inexcusable cruelty.

News coming out this morning that maybe the SEVIS terminations are getting rolled back.

The fact that these students are even having to go through this is infuriating.  Here are the best and brightest being sent to the US, that which that fucking guy complained about, and even then we are treating them like outcasts.  Humiliating for all involved, but for the idiotic perpetrators.

If you guys are looking to put some money out there to help immigrants, may I suggest the EDSBS/ShutownFullcast Charity Bowl?  Every year they do this for American Pathways, which is a resettlement group.  They are obviously having a hard time as funding has been cut by the government and there is a lot of uncertainty.  Last year, I think they raised over $1M through this drive and are trying to surpass that.

Since this is a college football (former) blog and podcast, they track it by school and have rivalries.  Right now, A&M is beating our ass ($47K to $4K), so let's get that number up.  https://www.moneycannon.org/?t=leaderboard

They also encourage your donation to be a number that has meaning to the college football fandom.  For instance, I put up $490 a couple years ago in honor of 49-0 over OU.  People do rushing yards, pass completions, etc etc.

Anyway, if you're so inclined, it is greatly appreciated by this charity and the immigrants that depend on it:

https://fundraise.givesmart.com/e/k-yA-Q?vid=1iywsc

Quick update for the people.  They raised almost $1.4M, which is a new record.  Just a massive amount of money that should do good for those new immigrants who are scared and need help.

Texas doesn't usually do well, but we ended up at #3 this year ($67,846), behind only Michigan (they have big donors on this and always win) and Protect Trans Kids University (why not?) and just ahead of A&M.  I checked in daily out of curiosity and there was a huge bump for Texas one day, so someone must have come up big.  Probably not any of you degenerates, but good on you if you threw some money their way last week.

The best story I heard this year was one of the main Michigan donors called them towards the end of the drive and had them tell him what amount it would take to make the Michigan total end in 13-10 (last year's OSU game score) and they got it done.  Pettiness for good.  Doesn't get better.

A young woman walked casually down a public street only to find herself suddenly surrounded by masked law enforcement officers in plain clothes. Without explanation — and in the absence of criminal charges and any due process — she was forced into a waiting vehicle and vanished into the labyrinth of the state security system.

Sound familiar? You’d be forgiven for thinking we’re recounting what happened to the Tufts University graduate student Rumeysa Ozturk in Somerville, Mass., last month. But no: That was the September 2020 abduction of the political activist Maria Kolesnikova in the capital of Belarus, the former Soviet republic that is home to one of the most repressive governments in the world.

It should be noted that the DOJ is fighting her ordered move back to Vermont. But the judge in the case has ordered she be sent back to Vermont by May 1.

ICE can enter your home without a warrant, if they suspect you have someone illegal inside.

Quote

Trump administration officials directed law enforcement nationwide to pursue suspected gang members into their homes, in some cases without any sort of warrant, according to a copy of the directive exclusively obtained by USA TODAY.

The directive, issued by Attorney General Pam Bondi March 14, provides the first public view of the specific implementation of the 1798 Alien Enemies Act invoked to deport migrants accused of being members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.

A day after that announcement, March 15, immigration officials apprehended and flew more than 200 Venezuelans to El Salvador’s Terrorism Confinement Center, or CECOT, which has been criticized for its harsh and dangerous conditions.

Gang members, critics, and judges, I hear. All are fair game.

Hey, all of you "the 2nd Amendment is our last line of defense against an authoritarian government" types.....where are you these days?  This is your fucking moment, this is what you've been waiting for.  How come you aren't all over the internet and airwaves, advising people on the proper weaponry to acquire to protect themselves and their homes from a lawless authoritarian regime?

Wait....what's that?  Your whole schtick presumed that all of the homes being invaded belonged to lily-white "real" Americans, brown people need not apply?  Huh.  I must have missed that footnote.  What font size was it in?

I personally have a short barreled ar-15 setup with a collapsable stock and a 21 round 9mm loaded with hollow points and about 6 mags for each weapon. I have another shotgun loaded and ready and then a compact glock in the car.

Oh, I know you're not.  But if you're a true-believer in the 2nd amendment, you should want ALL Americans to be properly apprised of their rights and how to exercise them.  Right?

Yea for sure. Why would I have a problem with liberals owning a gun if they do it legally?

Mostly because most conservatives, who we all THOUGHT were super-worried about an authoritarian government casually acting outside the rule of law and sweeping people up without regard for the constitution....but it turns out they were only worried about that in their fever-dreams when they thought that might happen to white people.  So, you'll understand when we doubt the sincerity of any conservative's professed reverence for constitutional rights.
