What’s the best advice for dealing with LEO / ICE if they approach and start asking questions? Is it better to say “I’m a US citizen,” give your name, and show a paper copy of a passport? At what point should you clam up and demand a lawyer?

I mean, I linked a news article to start the thread. It was updated this morning with a statement from CBP saying they would "never target school busses and children", which rings hollow when they also updated their guidelines to no longer explicitly deny entering schools, churches, and hospitals to deport people.

Yeah, I saw that one.  I was talking about reporting on young children getting detained on a bus or at school.   Nothing shocks me after the child separation and caging at the border.  But I'm trying to be very leery of clickbait outrage fuel.

You might have missed it but unthread there is a link where the school district has since removed this letter and the border patrol has disputed the accuracy of it.

There are also Palestinian Christians. At least that's what my Palestinian booze vendor told me.

I've read that there were three Christian churches in Gaza. Two of them were bombed during the recent war (one of those two had been partially destroyed in 2007 during a previous Israeli bombing). At a third church, two women were murdered by Israeli snipers.

Huh.  He probably should have gotten a job as a youth pastor at a Christian church.  That way, he wouldn't have anything to worry about, and could claim that any efforts against him were "religious persecution."

Something tells me ChickenSangwich doesn't read the youth minister thread, which -- as you obviously know -- is chock-full of red-blooded, god-fearing, white Christian men raping teens and diddling kids. Of course, the descriptors in that clause are: a) why you probably won't find a single post by him in there and b) why his concern is now suddenly raised.

Or a public school teacher.  They lap the clergy on having sex with the underage.

I'd like to see the per capita numbers.  There's a shitload more school teachers than there are clergy.

And FTR, I think that all of 'em deserve getting the full weight of the law thrown at them.  I'm just smart enough to know that the highest risk exposures my kids had in terms of being sexually assaulted were 1) a family member, 2) a church volunteer pastor, 3) a teacher/teacher's aide, and then 4) everyone else.  Sure, random dude, Jorge the sheetrock dude, and Polly Darton the drag queen COULD molest a kid, but if we're limiting risk by playing the odds, keeping your eyes open at church, school, and family gatherings is the play.

Private school teachers are not having sex with students? Yeah, that doesn’t track from my private school experience.

Teachers lap clergy on interaction with children, I think we can agree.

You post this as if it is out of the ordinary or something related to new policies implemented by the current administration.  ICE has been doing this exact same thing for the past 23 years.  Congrats on continuing to do the job.

no, he's posting it to justify the forced removal of all immigrants, whether they have TPS status, pending asylum claims, etc.

Unless I missed the post where ChickenSandwhich expressed concern over the ongoing targeting of those groups?

Pretty common tactic throughout history when you want to remove an entire group.

Not one damn person here is going to be sad about him being deported.  That is exactly who ICE should be focusing on.

This thread is mostly about all the people either here illegally but contributing to society, paying taxes of some form, stimulating the economy by buying shit and just minding their own damn business (while their employers get off free and easy) and not committing heinous crimes, or those who were brought here as a child, against their will, and are being deported back to a country they don't know anything about, or people who were admitted in a legal status, such as TPS, and had it taken away from them by some asshole and are now being deported.

Your gotcha attempt was pretty pathetic.
