Noah Wyle in a new medical drama.  About a busy ER in an underfunded hospital.

Watched a few episodes last night.   It held my attention pretty well.

Ditto, that’s when I’m like credit to the writers/actor.

Hour 8 was so fucking tough to get thru.  My only fear in life is losing a kid or grandchild.  3 in this ep alone.  Powerful acting. Taylor Darden playing Dr Mel tore it up with her subtle powerful acting…uhh Bryan Cranston’s daughter.  This is a great show and it got renewed.

Very well done. Solid writing and character development.

Was that the season finale?

only halfway through so far.  imdb showing 15 episodes for the first season.

15 eps because doctors are working a typical 15-hour shift. christ i hope that's not true. it's exhausting just watching this show.

we're really enjoying it and i've watched literally no other medical shows over the past 25 years or ever.

ER meets 24.  Seriously though with Noah Wylie and the setting this feels like it might have originally been pitched as an ER sequel?  Liking it a lot so far.

No, not that it matters cause it makes for great drama, but the show is like a month's worth of ER incidents rolled into one shift.

Check the credits. It's loaded with ER people.

The Pitt is a medical drama series on Max that follows Dr. Michael "Robby" Rabinavitch in the emergency room of Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital. Noah Wyle stars as Dr. Robby, and the show was developed by John Wells and R. Scott Gemmill, who also worked on ER.
The Crichton estate, which owns the rights to ER, sued Warner Bros. over alleged similarities between The Pitt and ER. The estate claimed that Wells proposed making a sequel to ER that would star Wyle as an older Dr. John Carter. Warner Bros. and Max denied the allegations, and the lawsuit did not prevent The Pitt from premiering on Max in January 2025.

aaron sorkin did not think a political show could work on network tv, but he took the meeting anyway because he wanted to meet john wells.

wells ran the show for the 3 seasons after sorkin left.

It was.  Crichton estate wanted a ton of money and producers told them to get bent.

Noah Wylie on this show is best performance on TV by a long shot last year or this (knowing it’s February).  It’s almost objectively true.

Holy shit the last episode was a gut punch.  Hard to watch.

Yeah, that was tough.  I lost a good friend last week and am flying down to Texas on Friday for his service.  That episode was definitely tough to watch.

Yeah that was just one after the other. Jumped into this one a couple of weeks ago and it’s just really well done.

yeah, but they are suing. I think there are significant enough differences that it doesn't have merit, but if they really did pitch it as a sequel first then they are in trouble

Oh fuck this fucking guy right up the ass. Take your fucking chances you tiny dick fuck.

Now ask me how I really feel.

Really good show. Credit to writers and that girl who plays Dr. Santos as I cannot stand her ass.
The whole cast is solid and I am curious to see how next handful of episodes play out.

I'll be curious how much they feel like they need to circle back on in the final episodes.  I kinda hope some of the loose ends just stay loose and they end the day with just whatever happens in the next 3 hours.

- I don't need to have the son come back and do something crazy, the payoff was the conflict and reconciliation between Robbie and McKay

- I don't need retribution on the asshole patient.  The payoff is that the job is fucking dangerous

- I don't need some kind of Dr Robbie mental breakdown.  I get it -- it's a fucking hard day for him personally compounded by a worse than normal day in The Pitt.

- Interested to see if the Shawn Hatosy character comes back later or not...

I think this has been renewed, right?

It's a 15 hour shift so I doubt they will circle back. It has been renewed for a second season. I'm really enjoying it. I hope it goes on for several seasons.

Yeah that’s not how you handle an impaired physician. Dr Robby not having a good day

also if you are going to put on a posterior and stirrup splint for gods sake use some soft roll and plaster

ortho is not getting to that trimal tonight

He was having flashbacks to his fentanyl addiction after he was stabbed in the kidney.
