2nd season is in production. Supposed to take place 10 months later over the July 4th weekend. Under over on body parts blown up by fireworks?

Wife and I started watching this on Monday. We're already caught up fully. Episode 8 really hit me hard in the feels. I think that combined with the siblings that had to let their dad slip away really got to me. Took me back to a place I hadn't been in almost 10 years. Then you couple that with a parent's worst fear happening not once, not twice, but 3 times. As an ER day one-er, love Noah Wyle in this. I can't think of a character that's not properly cast. Excellent ensemble.

Season 2 will come out in January 2026. I guess that's a lot easier to do when there's very little VFX involved.

I like Lenny Kravitz.  He's good, and he's got a really cool look.  I always assumed his name was just a cool made-up stage name.

Nope.

Good decompression and closure for S2.  I was hoping measles mom would get mistakenly locked in the psych ward, or beaten by the guy that slugged Dana.

hate that it’s over.  I’ll rewatch in a month or two on a binge .

whomever cast that woman deserves an emmy.

Man what a good show, full of characters you like and characters you hate.

Things I can do without S2:

1) the “stepkid” with dead girlfriend. Dude sucks.

2) Less of ankle monitor issues

3) Dr. Sanchez (although I give actress credit for playing character who is so annoying so well)

4) Hospital admin lady

I like that it just ended like a shift ending. You don't get resolution on the measles kid. There's no dumb cliff hangers thrown in at the end. I guess we'll see if Langdon is allowed back and if Dana returns though we know she will with Robbie saying see you Monday. I really liked Dr. Abbott. The actor made the most of his scenes. I don't think a show has grabbed me from the start and not let go like this one in quite a while. There was really no down episodes. This needs to win multiple awards.

Good show, finished strong.  lol what could possibly happen in the next shift though?

Glad it was not the incel who was the shooter.

Agree with all of that.

agreed. i'm also glad they did not have anything to do with finding/catching the shooter. they're not detectives and this isn't criminal minds. instead they made it about the snap-decisions these doctors have to do when assessing someone's mental state. his own mother tricked him into coming to the hospital, and mckay had her own shit swirling in her head about who people are and what they're capable of. she did what she thought was right at the time and had to deal with it.

same as robby (with langdon). he's doing (or will do) what he thinks is right. their little chat outside, did not go great.

also, back to the shooter - we all know that most of the time these mass shooters kill themselves or get shot by law enforcement. often that is the ideal ending for them (suicide by cop, etc). i had never ever heard of a shooter going to the hospital where the victims were. i could see maybe if there was a specific target he had and needed to finish the job or something, but that seemed strange to me that anyone would assume, much less prepare for some sort of likely/inevitable conclusion, that shit would ultimately go down at the hospital. glad it didn't.

Hospital admin lady is Avon Barksdale's sister.

Stepkid sucks indeed.  He's also an ugly mofo.

just binged the last four eps.

wow.

i also was thinking about Vegas, and Pulse nightclub, big ones... and then i was imagining what it was like when they were all little children, Sandy Hook, Uvalde, and then i was like NO I DON'T WANT TO THINK ABOUT THAT AT ALL. fuck.

this felt like Mare of Eastown...just give them all the acting Emmys.

somehow...the old man dying early on, with the grown children, managed to get to me the most. maybe bc it seemed the most likely to be something that probably happens at least once a shift?

i cannot even fathom how a second season could top that, so it will probably suck lol.

Guess I’ll get into this since it seems worthwhile based on reactions. I usually avoid most medical shows because, well, it’s my job and I don’t need more of that shit in my life.

I'm looking forward to hearing how it is perfectly representative of any given 15-hour period at your workplace.

Yeah, angry stepkid was the worst element of the show. Even at his introduction, the way everyone tried to clandestinely give him rubbers was a little weird and awkward, and it only got worse.

I agree that most of the casting (particularly for the lesser roles) was very good.

Just chiming in to say this is my favorite show of the year. Kind of nice to watch something that isn’t blatantly trying to be “prestige”. Occasionally the dialogue is overly expository and rough around the edges, and agreed that the step kid was a total drag.

One of the coolest parts of the show is how they just seamlessly introduced new characters in the last few episodes of season 1. And I love how they don’t require a dramatic resolution on every story/patient. Measles kid is still sick, but the shift is over and life goes on.

Great finale with no cliffhangers. Get through the shift, have a beer outside, and head home. Love the song “Baby” by Robert Bradley’s Blackwater Surprise, as well. It was the first and last thing you heard this season.

Dug it, binged it pretty quick. The social / interpersonal stuff was clumsy at times, and other times they nailed it. The medical stuff was great. Those lines can’t be easy to memorize.
They didn’t flinch from the medical procedures which got gnarly at times. Horror movies don’t bother me but realistic blood and guts is another story.

Same. Probably the only recent show that I watched as soon as it dropped. I loved ER, and yes, it's not that, but it definitely scratched that itch.

Also Dr King was channeling Jordan from Real Genius

She did a great job.  Thoroughly enjoyed her character - the quirks, the self-soothing, etc.  And yep... def got the Jordan vibe.

I've never been into medical dramas but I LOVED this show so much. Noah Wyle didn't do it for me back in his ER days, but I love me some grizzled Dr. Robby. The only beef I have with his character is that he was a total dick to Dr. McKay and the incel kid (David). Putting David a 72-hour hold will not "ruin the rest of his life", and it was absolutely justified given the note the mom found, even though he ended up not being the shooter at that particular mass casualty incident.
