The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a hammer is a good guy with a hammer or, barring that, a guy who is really good with a set of needle nose pliers.

Line mans pliers are better.

The simple answer is to lock up anyone who is as crazy looking as this fuck was.

This is the only way but it will hurt some feelings and still won’t stop everything.

Once again the gun nuts make their awesome arguments about how people die all the time so we should just not make any effort to keep these things from happening.

or the idea that you can't stop anything so why bother

no one says you can stop anyone with mental illness issues. the idea is to accept wanting to lower the instances of these occurrences by understanding its a mental health problem and an 'easy access' to guns problem. And actively working on both so we can trend down here.

anyone still refusing to work within these very simple bounds is a fucking selfish prick.

Every argument against some measure of gun control is equally applicable to wearing seatbelts, researching treatments for cancer, etc.  Some people will STILL die in car wrecks, so why infringe on them by requiring seatbelts?  Some people with STILL die from cancer, so why use any of my tax dollars to research treatments?

Can you solve a problem 100% with measure X? If "no," then measure X should be rejected.  That's the logic we see here.  Which, of course, is no logic at all.

So, the wheel will keep turning, nothing will change.  Just hope it's not your day to have a laser dot sight on your chest.  Maybe a prayer, too -- those seem to be a good strategy.

It’s always easier to blame to big bad NRA than focus on the mental health aspect and you idiots keep wondering why it keeps happening.

In part because the NRA has strongly resisted / actively lobbied against laws to remove guns from the possession of people with mental illnesses.  They are actively working in Florida to remove the laws passed after MSD that allow law enforcement to take weapons from unstable individuals...
