Still amazing Mike Martin has more career wins than any other coach on that list and the only one without a title.

It’s also kind of amazing to me that we have three coaches on that list and don’t have the most/closer to the most titles. LSU just wins more often when they get there than we historically have. USC also fits the narrative, but they do shit anymore.

UC Irvine - Nebraska are streaming on mlb.com and the mlb app from Scottsdale.  1-0 zotzotzot after 2.

Free baseball in Fayetteville on opening day, still tied at 1-1, headed to extra innings.

Martin got to Omaha many times but never won, he racked up the wins in the regular seasons.

Decided to go down a historical rabbit hole

  • Sorting by title percentage, LSU's rate is impressive for a team that's been there 19 times
  • For teams that are still annually relevant, Vanderbilt and Oregon State have very good title rates, but their overall appearances aren't very high
  • At least we're not aggy (see very bottom), or FSU, for that matter.
  • Thank God college baseball is back! Let's go get number 7!
  • Note: not every team with a CWS appearance is listed, but all with a title are. Teams at the very bottom have the most appearances without a title (in descending order)

Both starters fall apart and can't get out of the 4th in Scottsdale.  6-2 Eaters with Nebraska still batting with the bases loaded and a reliever coming on.

Defending National Champions Vols vs. Hofstra is underway.

May not be a great game but it's a chance to see what Tennessee looks like and you never know.

Watch it here.

TCU ties it 4-4 on a 2-run inside the park HR when the San Diego CF dove and had it go off his glove and then just laid there hurt.  Seemed find a couple of minutes later.

Rice lost to Villanova last night and Michigan today in Cheito's homecoming.  I don't think he's going to be the guy to bring them back.

UNC finished the 3 game sweep of Tech this afternoon.

Cincy and Duke are tied at 5 in the 11th.  Cincy already took Game 1 yesterday.

Leading 13-11 right now.  No pitching.  The fat Japanese kid for Stanford can really hit.

Do you think his translator would be interested in joining our gambling site?

Holeee shit.  Came back from 14-6 down to take the lead and then dropped a 17 spot the next inning.

I assume it was a getaway thing... if you are W&M you have to think you could score   10-15 more.

UTRGV just beat #20 Dallas Baptist 15-5

First time beating a ranked team since 2003. They played at Globe Life because of the weather. Those boys were super jacked about the whole experience.

Texas State beat Okie State 4-2 tonight

Way too early in the season to start sniffing our own farts, but some solid pitching efforts so far.  17K last night, 15K in the opener.  Shitload of new faces on the team - 27 new players on the roster.

This article provides insight on  possible future changes to college baseball including roster limits, NIL, and player compensation.   Worth a read especially if you love the game.  (excerpts)

The shortening of the Major League Baseball amateur draft from 40 rounds to 20 beginning in 2021 has kept more players in college longer. The transfer portal has allowed teams to fill immediate needs rather than roll the dice with young players. And teams would get older yet if there’s passage of a proposal now under consideration to extend athlete eligibility from four to five competitive seasons.

There also is some question about how junior college years will be counted against NCAA eligibility following the federal court injunction that gave Vanderbilt football player Diego Pavia an extra season after he argued his junior college years limited his ability to capitalize on NIL.

Oregon State coach Mitch Canham said all those factors mean promising high school players who don’t project to be an immediate starting position player or key member of the pitching staff will be passed over in coming years.

“With a roster of 34, you don’t have room to keep a whole bunch of guys around to develop, which is tough because that’s something we’ve done a lot of,” Canham said. “It’s almost as if, am I going to trust an 18-year-old who has never played Division I baseball to come in and do this? You better make sure. Or are you going to get a 21-year-old (transfer) who has hundreds of at-bats and experience against older competition?”
