South Carolina Upstate at High Point is on ESPNU for some reason.  Looks like dozens of fans in attendance and probably a similar number watching on tv.

Arizona is up 1-0 on Arizona St early, looking to tie up the series.  They're both tied, along with Kansas, for 2nd in the Big 12 at 7-3.

Cal tied Clemson in the 6th, trying to salvage one game out of that series.  GT is well on their way to a sweep at Stanford, up 9-1.  Okie State is up 2-0 early on K-State looking to sweep the DH today and the series.

And an absolute bomb by K-State to tie it at 2.

This Cal broadcast might be the worst D1 broadcast I’ve seen

Worse than that Stanford series in 2019? That was brutal from a production standpoint. Like they got a local bay area High School to run it.

I actually like the Stanford radio crew. It's done by students, and is fairly entertaining to the 5-10 Stanford games I listen to a year.

(See also Iowa)

Only camera was from behind the plate, scoreboard looked like I jumped in a Time Machine back to 1995

Big thicket aggy and Beach aggy are in the 14th, and of course I'm watching.  They have a combined record of 19-42.

Anybody got a translation available for this crap?

D1 Chat starts at 12PM today.   Free to public until they paywall.

They said kind of an interesting thing on the podcast this morning. That they are a bit unsure of Texas because things have been going a bit too perfectly so far, while acknowledging that is a ridiculous thing to say. Especially with our injuries. But I kind of get it. Can we really just go along beating everybody by 5-3 or 7-4 scores all year? We are not really separating ourselves or being dominant, just winning.

We'll see. But there are fewer and fewer great teams left to play before the post season. Only pig is in the top 10 left on our schedule, granted it is on the road and they are #1. Though Auburn might be there by the time we play them I guess.

It's really not that weird when you have dominant pitching.

True. But we are relying on just a few arms.

This is my biggest concern.

I'm going to have a heart attack if we lose one or two of those guys to injuries and are forced to bring Cody F'n Howard in during a Regional game.🤬

Sure would be nice to be on the positive side of a Will Bednar-type situation this postseason after getting dominated by opposing pitchers under Pierce.

Pertinent chat notes.  Not much Texas info.   Note they think 13 SEC wins qualifies for the postseason.

I know we pounded Missouri pretty pretty hard this weekend, but doesn't Texas deserve to be #1.  They have better series wins and I for one don't want the #1 Albatross hanging around our collective necks

We debated Texas vs. Arkansas for the top spot quite a bit, and our staff was split pretty evenly -- but also, all of us saw a case for the other team as well. UT has those two super-loud series wins at home (2/3 vs LSU, sweeping Georgia), but Arkansas also has two quality series wins against ranked teams on the ROAD (at Ole Miss, sweeping Vandy), and doing that on the road is also pretty loud. I think their resumés are actually very close, and we already had the Hogs ranked higher so it made sense to me just to slide them up a spot. But if we had gone with Texas based on the LSU and Georgia series wins, I would have had no issue with that either.

Not saying we're back, but boy was that a gust of fresh air on Saturday.  Will 13 SEC wins cut it this year to make the playoffs, or will the selection committee be more harsh with the bigger conferences this year?  What is your gut feeling for minimum wins for the at-large SEC teams?

If A&M gets to 13 league wins, it will definitely make the field, IMO, because the Aggies would have had to beat some mammoth RPI teams to get to that point. Your RPI would probably be closer to 20 than it would be 50 at that stage of the game. Saturday's performances were mighty impressive, namely with Sorrell raking and Bear Harrison coming into his own. But let's see the Aggies put together two-straight solid weeks, and then we can have a discussion about turning the corner. A step forward? Sure. that's it for now.

Seeing a lot of West Coast kids commiting/playing on SEC schools, has this always been the case and I am now noticing? Or is NIL grabbing the best of the West and bringing them out to the SEC for $, better atmospheres, better facilities, etc...

Tim -- It's definitely more prominent than it once was. I do think realignment will help the West Coast schools keep some of those kids at home, but the fact of the matter is outside of Oregon State, the atmospheres and facilities in conferences like the SEC, ACC and Big 12 are better. That is going to lead to more and more kids from out that direction heading East to play college baseball.

LSU's Pitching staff and just their overall outlook as a team right now. (0 ER over the weekend is insane btw)

Kendall touched on this above, but I'll go a step further: I am really in on this LSU team. I love the length and variety in their lineup, and obviously you have to be excited about the sheer talent in their rotation, but also in the bullpen. I know there have been occasional bumps along the way with that pitching staff, but I think those are expected growing pains with young arms, and jeez they're still sitting there at 30-3!

Was there any discussions around UTSA for a top 25 spot? Pat Hallmark's squad is looking really good and has a RPI inside the top 30.

Hunter -- The Roadrunners still have some work to do. I actually really like UTSA's offense overall, but getting run-ruled twice against DBU a couple of weeks ago kind of soured us a bit on UTSA from a Top 25 standpoint. That series sweep over FAU does look a little louder now after seeing the Mac's team did against ECU last weekend.

How about the job Jim Schlossnagle has done at Texas! That guy can coach and has won everywhere!

Schloss really has done a great job with this team. It's not easy to get a team to immediately buy into your way of doing things and culture, but it seems like the Longhorns' players were eager to see some improved structure. In addition to Jim, I feel like pitching coach Max Weiner once again is doing a phenomenal job with a pitching staff. He's the pitching whisperer, for sure. Really impressed with those guys across the board. They didn't skip a beat without AR and MB this past weekend.

Do you think A&M can build off this past weekend, or do you feel like it was a one-day doubleheader aberration?

Chris -- we shall see. I don't take much from the weekend other than A&M is still fighting and hasn't thrown in the towel. The one thing I did really like about A&M is that Bear Harrison is getting into a groove offensively and Caden Sorrell did Caden Sorrell things. If those two are going to hit like that, that lineup has very few holes now. Even Ben Royo is making some offensive strides.

Is Oklahoma a regional host? Or are they finally getting exposed for a weak schedule?

OU is not out of the hosting mix, but it really needs to win that series against Vandy. Sitting at 5-7 in the league, if you win that series, you gotta feel like you'll do well against Missouri the following weekend. So, this series for me is a swing series for the Sooners. RPI is still in a good spot at 18 -- but league record, as of today, is an issue.

Does Michael Earley lose his job if the Aggies somehow make it into the postseason?

If the Aggies make the NCAA tournament, I would be willing to bet money he's back. That would mean the Aggies likely won series against two of Arkansas, Texas, LSU and Georgia. That would be a pretty strong way to finish the regular season and make the NCAA tourney. I'm still not a believer until I see much more from the Aggies outside of one day.
