Over the past couple of weeks, I've encountered a weird phenomenon when browsing the web.  Certain websites I am trying to access just don't appear.  Just....nothing.  Would love some help figuring out a fix.  Super frustrating.

Chrome, latest version (131.0.6778.71). I've cleared cache and cookies and history and none of it changes anything.  Doesn't matter if it's click-through or typed in. Spectrum internet, w/ or w/o VPN.  This doesn't happen on my work computer, same browser and internet, with a VPN.  Probably 20+ different sites so far.

From today:

Doesn't matter if it's an incognito window either

Does it happen using Edge or Firefox?

Yes.

Sounds like a DNS issue.

Hope you’re not using your internet provider’s DNS.

How do I check this and what should I be using instead?

Cloudflare, google, quadns any DNS service.

At the router level you can enter a custom dns server.

Enter 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 for cloudflare and Google. Check the box for secure DNS if it's available or encrypt.

If not router level you can do it device level in windows you go to network settings, go to advanced there's a DNS section. Same thing.

Mac its basically the same but I don't use them often so can't just rattle off how.
