What do you think the rule will be? Obviously, Trump has said first generation natural born Americans can be deported. Do you have to go back six generations to be safe? Is it on one parent’s side or both parents’?

I'd like to see real estate prices come back down to earth.  It seems like higher interest rates didn't do much.  Certainly deporting cheap, skilled labor won't help matters.  I haven't seen much from either side which would bring prices down.  Instead it seemed both sides wanted to lower interest rates and/or give money to first time buyers.  Neither of those would really help imo.

Macro…a drop in real estate prices would be bad.

Micro, a drop would probably good if not great for those who prepared.

Look back over the last 100+ years and hopefully you’ll see, you really shouldn’t want housing prices to drop…unless of course you are part of that (micro) minority that’s liquid and able to take advantage of a situation that’s bad for most Americans. We created a lot of millionaires and increased a lot of wealth post-2007.

Rates should settle in 2025 but don’t expect a return to 3%. I admit I have no way of knowing how we incent first time homebuyers and people who deserve homes without creating situations where the wealthy can take advantage. But, I think wages and productivity should be more the focus here.

One thing we do really need is for government to operate more efficiently. We’ve gotta get Congress out of this paycheck to paycheck lifestyle.

Honestly, should we just let Ukraine fight its own battles when they were invaded without provocation by an aggressive, dictatorial regime?  Honest question? Is it a "fuck it, that's their problem" approach that would be better?

Yes.

Next question.

I tend to think we can reduce the waste in rampant government spending and that alone would be hundreds of times more valuable to the American people.

Supporting disadvantaged countries against enemy aggressors is important to the well being of both our country and the planet long-term. Morally, it’s the right thing to do, too. I know they aren’t Americans but we’re all fucking people and most of those citizens don’t get chances, either. I’ll prob be negged for this, whatever.

Its not even swinging dick it was just tapping of the crotch Biden had to repeatedly say he was sending obsolete equipment that was 10x better than Soviet era obsolete equipment. He just decided to ride it out without communicating to the American people, just fucking joke because the media was not hostile, like dude come the fuck on that dark Biden was complete bullshit.

Increase supply, get rid of PE for homes.

Exactly-it’s like some of you were born after 2008.  Real estate prices falling in a broad, noticeable way is terrible for the economy.   If you want to get PE out of residential real estate then the economy needs to create more attractive avenues of investment.

To that point, a far bigger problem is that major parts of the economy are in thrall to rent-seeking.  It’s an area that JD Vance is reputed to be aligned with Lina Khan* on and if there’s a continuation of anti-monopoly enforcement it would mark a welcome surprise.

*that said, I’m not terribly hopeful because this wouldn’t play nice with pretty much everyone else in Trump’s ear.

Better for both ours and the world’s future for us to be the biggest swinging dick than to sit idly by and wait for a line to be crossed that’s unrecoverable. How powerful do you want Russia or China to become?

If you need evidence, look back on literally any empire in history that’s now non-existent.

Do you really think we're going to willingly give up our ability to project power in our national interest when we do it more effectively than any other nation on earth?

Really?

It’s definitely not going to happen at any scale that he has promised. It would completely wreck the economy. I know Trumpkins don’t give a fuck about human suffering and cruelty but they definitely care about cheap goods and this would explode prices of everything.

They also like to buy a bunch of made in China junk from Wal-Mart.  How are they going to react to the increased prices due to tariffs?
