Makes sense.

“Pro life people” are pro death penalty too

The Trump economy he inherited the first go round was unbelievably strong, especially in job production.  Obama inherited the biggest mess any President inherited in our lifettime.  The GOP let the economy flounder, because they did not want to pass legislation that would fix the mess the GOP created.  Instead, they did a bandaid, bill, to have the first thing Obama had to do was pass like a $600 billion dollar bill to stabilize and start rebuilding the economy.  Just 8 years earlier George W. Bush inherited an economy that was procuding a surplus.  Rather than allow the surplus to hit the books Bush and the GOP, decided paying down the debt was a bad idea.

Trump inherits strong economy. GOP passes massive debt bill, disingenuously sunsetting ONLY the individual tax cuts, and making permanent the corporate tax cuts.  This allowed the GOP to like about their real intentions of blowing a massive, massive hole int he deficit, with a cutoff that they never wanted to happen. But they did not want the American people to know the devastating long term costs of the legislation.  But when you create massive deficits for tax cuts, without trying to invest wisely in the economy... you end up with the GOP handing off a fiscal mess to the Dem.

Just once in my life I would like to see a GOP President that had control of congress for at least 2 years of their term, hand off an economy stronger than the one they inherited.

Despite the eternal bluster to the contrary, GOP Presidencies have left more mess than progress at the end of their terms.  I expect a Cabinet full of the least qualified yes men we have ever seen will perform worst than past GOP presidencies.  So I am betting huge against the market this time.  Not going to miss an opportunity to profit from a combination of GOP delusion on economics, combined with the least competent cabinet ever assembled.  I hate that I view the US as a poorly run company.

That’s precisely because they are not interested in governing. They’re not interested in creating a robust economy. They’re only interested in doing favors for their donors.

In the late 1970’s, the idea of Trickle Down was seen sort of as a taboo. That’s why GHWB called it “voodoo.” The thing is, he was right to call it that.

The entire premise of it was built on that stupid Laffer curve, which postulates “when tax rates are low, revenues will be low because the government doesn’t generate enough money. When tax rates are high, revenues will be low because people are less motivated to work or invest.”

Totally ignoring the complete arbitrary nature of what it is for tax rates to be “high” or “low,” or how high they have to be to disincentivized to work/invest, or how tax rates are rarely if ever applied uniformly, does anyone not notice that the GOP always admits that this stuff is bullshit?

Oh sure they don’t say it’s bullshit literally, but they say it in their actions. They say it when they pass tax cuts to the wealthiest people and then sweeping budget cuts. Well yeah, because they’re not really interested in finding this so-called “sweet spot” on the curve because what that does is lower required revenues while also lowering taxes.

I’m sure 3-point percentages in the NBA would increase dramatically if they make the no-charge circle the new 3-point arch and if they lower the basket to 7’ instead of 10. That’s not gonna compel me to call those guys “great three point shooters,” though.

Anyways the whole nominal point of the Laffer curve was to assume expenditures as a given (relative at least) constant and finding the most effective way to raise revenues to pay for them. The curve was never meant to be a mechanism to shift the goalposts. So again, why do they shift the goalposts to make it look like trickle down works? Because they know it’s bullshit. And you’re never going to see them make economic progress while they worship bullshit.

Ah yes, eggs were too expensive, at $2.99 per dozen, because of the VICE President. I had almost forgotten she did that to us.

Serious question: What did she do for us?

Went to the store today.

Holy fuck, the price of eggs.

$15 for a dozen extra large organic eggs at the Asian grocery store. No organic are over the $10 mark.

Haven’t seen any eggs at Trader Joe’s and Sprouts in several weeks.

A couple of thoughts…

1. The economy tanking does no one any good. I work in construction, we build for public and private clients alike. Tariffs and persistent high interest rates means less private work for us. That’s not good for my bonus.

2. Even with the economy in the gutter, in the next election cycle, the Dems will still spend way too much time talking about DEI, abortion, etc. Who was it who said “It’s the economy, stupid”? The Dems will continue to lose if they don’t focus on what’s important for almost everyone instead of trans rights, etc.

What the fuck? I heard zero talk about "DEI" from Kamala's campaign and actually not a lot about abortion, and zero about trans rights. Nada. Goes to show the astroturfed movements and propaganda seeps in everywhere

Bruh, she did a whole fucking day of abortion and reproductive rights talk. It was like their main fucking selling point for a solid week.

I’m failing to see the problem. When the other side has made female reproductive rights one of their main targets, you’re damn right it should be a main talking point.

I am not saying it was a problem. I'm saying it's fucking crazy to say the Harris campaign didn't say much about abortion.

Not promise -- and follow through on -- to be a dictator "on day one?"  Just, you know, for starters.

Not do a 180 switch, turning our greatest enemy into our closest ally, and turn LITERALLY ALL of our allies into out-and-out enemies?  That seems....important.

Not promise to erratically impose tariffs for no fucking reason, wrecking the fucking economy and causing inflation, unpredictability, and destabilizing the fucking globe?

All she had to do was not be an insanely evil Russian asset.  She did that brilliantly.

It’s going to take more than a month to untangle a lot of shit. The difference is you and I identify different problems. To call Russia our greatest enemy is played out when countries like N Korea and Iran pose a greater threat. Ukraine is not our problem and we shouldn’t be funding them. Do you want America to be the world’s police or not? You have to pick a side and stick with it. Imposing tariffs is a position move that eventually works for the American people. Trump hasn’t even had time to see if his strategy of not spending our $ on stupid shit will even be effective. Even if it is, people such as yourself, would never give credit where it’s due. And that’s fine. You can try to set us on your path again in just under 4 years.

Don't be a fucktard.

You saw what Trump did in his first term.

Did you actually think he had any serious solutions for serious problems?

Unless you think rampant bigotry and/or P2025 are serious solutions.

I did. That’s why I voted for Hillary the first time and switched my vote to Trump this time based on performance. Kamala didn’t sway me that she would be effective in the least bit. I’m not thrilled with Trump either, but I do have a body of evidence that some good will come out of his presidency. I’m not naive enough to think it’s a quick fix and a magic wand can be waived to solve our most pressing issues.

The Democrats did not focus on trans rights fuck the fuck right off

Let me read my post again…. nope, didn’t talk about trans rights. So not fucking off.

Personally, trans rights IS important to me. My niece, now nephew’s future and happiness is depends on the trans rights. But the Dems won’t be able to do much about it if they’re not back in charge, and they won’t be back in charge unless they focus more on the economy.

As VP? She didn’t do what Vance did today.

And she lost the election as a result of that. Sorry, but it’s true. She had NO hardline stances that I could deem either right or wrong to provide a rebuttal. So I have to assume that we are going to waste more money continuing Biden’s failed policies.

Is this motherfucker serious?

1) Russia has the largest Nuclear arsenal in the world, a dictator at the helm, and is currently trying to roll over another country. Yeah, those other countries are a bigger threat.

2) Ukraine is not our problem? We are part of NATO. We wouldn't and haven't allow Russia on our doorstep and so we shouldn't allow the people we made a pact with to have that happen to them.

3) Sweeping tariffs are regarded. First, we don't have the infrastructure in place to do what they are supposed to do, make our manufacturing competitive. It will take quite a few years to do. All we are doing in the meantime is raising the cost of good for our masses, and opening the door for other countries to sell their wares abroad. World leaders are not dumb. All we are doing is isolating ourselves.

4) Spending our money on stupid shit? The biggest issue is we aren't collecting enough revenue. Start there. Then pull the corp subsidies and military overspending.

It’s a bit

It's not a bit. This dude has one of the more overinflated senses of self importance on this site and that's saying a lot. He cares about himself and that's the end of it. He is what we all despise about the Republican party in a nutshell.

It's a phony wannabe troll.  I did the wrong thing and fed it.  Put it on ignore and let it starve for attention.  I mean, you gotta wonder about someone that views multiple indictments of fraud and rape as a winning strategy vs someone that prosecuted against those sorts of heinous acts.  The criminals trunip's letting off for offenses against children is another strategy for some too.
