Is this motherfucker serious?

1) Russia has the largest Nuclear arsenal in the world, a dictator at the helm, and is currently trying to roll over another country. Yeah, those other countries are a bigger threat.

2) Ukraine is not our problem? We are part of NATO. We wouldn't and haven't allow Russia on our doorstep and so we shouldn't allow the people we made a pact with to have that happen to them.

3) Sweeping tariffs are regarded. First, we don't have the infrastructure in place to do what they are supposed to do, make our manufacturing competitive. It will take quite a few years to do. All we are doing in the meantime is raising the cost of good for our masses, and opening the door for other countries to sell their wares abroad. World leaders are not dumb. All we are doing is isolating ourselves.

4) Spending our money on stupid shit? The biggest issue is we aren't collecting enough revenue. Start there. Then pull the corp subsidies and military overspending.

What, like the CHIPs Act?  Great unemployment numbers?  Inflation reduction leading the world?  Some investment in infrastructure?

And what great success did Trump have in his first term?  Moving the US Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem?

You're not wealthy enough for his tax cuts to have helped you any, and they exploded the deficit.  But I'm sure that's what you think you want.

A couple of thoughts…

1. The economy tanking does no one any good. I work in construction, we build for public and private clients alike. Tariffs and persistent high interest rates means less private work for us. That’s not good for my bonus.

2. Even with the economy in the gutter, in the next election cycle, the Dems will still spend way too much time talking about DEI, abortion, etc. Who was it who said “It’s the economy, stupid”? The Dems will continue to lose if they don’t focus on what’s important for almost everyone instead of trans rights, etc.

It’s going to take more than a month to untangle a lot of shit. The difference is you and I identify different problems. To call Russia our greatest enemy is played out when countries like N Korea and Iran pose a greater threat. Ukraine is not our problem and we shouldn’t be funding them. Do you want America to be the world’s police or not? You have to pick a side and stick with it. Imposing tariffs is a position move that eventually works for the American people. Trump hasn’t even had time to see if his strategy of not spending our $ on stupid shit will even be effective. Even if it is, people such as yourself, would never give credit where it’s due. And that’s fine. You can try to set us on your path again in just under 4 years.

I did. That’s why I voted for Hillary the first time and switched my vote to Trump this time based on performance. Kamala didn’t sway me that she would be effective in the least bit. I’m not thrilled with Trump either, but I do have a body of evidence that some good will come out of his presidency. I’m not naive enough to think it’s a quick fix and a magic wand can be waived to solve our most pressing issues.

I was saying the first part (construction spending) in jest. EVERYONE is better off with a robust economy, and this administration, despite all the propaganda, is undermining the economy every which way starting with tariffs and the trade war to come.

Installing a vaccine skeptic as head of HHS? People get sick and can’t go to work? Fuck them.

Downsizing NOAA and NWS? Fuck the farmers, residents in gulf coast states that will get with hurricanes, people who live in areas prone to tornadoes and wildfires. Of yeah, calling for states to take care of their own and not providing aid by FEMA. Yeah, fuck them all.

The economy suffers as a whole when people stop working because their lives are disrupted by illlness and disaster and then receive little help.

Cut through the propaganda and the reality is Trump is destroying the economy.

That’s precisely because they are not interested in governing. They’re not interested in creating a robust economy. They’re only interested in doing favors for their donors.

In the late 1970’s, the idea of Trickle Down was seen sort of as a taboo. That’s why GHWB called it “voodoo.” The thing is, he was right to call it that.

The entire premise of it was built on that stupid Laffer curve, which postulates “when tax rates are low, revenues will be low because the government doesn’t generate enough money. When tax rates are high, revenues will be low because people are less motivated to work or invest.”

Totally ignoring the complete arbitrary nature of what it is for tax rates to be “high” or “low,” or how high they have to be to disincentivized to work/invest, or how tax rates are rarely if ever applied uniformly, does anyone not notice that the GOP always admits that this stuff is bullshit?

Oh sure they don’t say it’s bullshit literally, but they say it in their actions. They say it when they pass tax cuts to the wealthiest people and then sweeping budget cuts. Well yeah, because they’re not really interested in finding this so-called “sweet spot” on the curve because what that does is lower required revenues while also lowering taxes.

I’m sure 3-point percentages in the NBA would increase dramatically if they make the no-charge circle the new 3-point arch and if they lower the basket to 7’ instead of 10. That’s not gonna compel me to call those guys “great three point shooters,” though.

Anyways the whole nominal point of the Laffer curve was to assume expenditures as a given (relative at least) constant and finding the most effective way to raise revenues to pay for them. The curve was never meant to be a mechanism to shift the goalposts. So again, why do they shift the goalposts to make it look like trickle down works? Because they know it’s bullshit. And you’re never going to see them make economic progress while they worship bullshit.

70 years ago trickle down was actually a decent stimulus concept. But that was only because of the limitations of investing outside the united states.  Now a tax cut for anyone other than the middle class is a waste of money and a false stimulus.  In that if something does not produce more than it costs, by definition.  The bottom line is the tax cuts the GOP promises will create more tax revenue than they costs is simply a lie.  They simply do nothing more than shift tax burden to lower classes, and concentrate more wealth into fewer and fewer hands over time.

Did I love the cost of the borrowing that Biden did? Nope.  But I also cannot ignore the fact that funding of infrastructure has been ignored by the GOP consistently, in favor of tax cuts that disproportionately help those that need the least assistance financially. Republican math simply has not added up in a very, very long time.

Again I wish that just once, just one time, a Republican could hand off a economy to a Dem that was not a clusterfuck of some sort.  But hey, cut taxes and all will be cured!  It will be even worse with the most cowardly people I have ever seen sitting in elected offices with (R) by their names.  Completely and totally gutless wonders from top to bottom.  And that's exactly how democracies die...

Yeah it's one thing for the stupid, uneducated, gullible and tuned-out to think Trump would deliver on any economic promises.

There was some kind of aggregate study done at least 15 to 20 years ago that determined that US tax rates would need to be in the 65% to 75% range such that their reduction would result in a net increase in govt revenue.  So even without the foreign component causing revenue leakage, the whole concept is a non starter with rate ranges we have had in the 70 years.

All I can say is that I missed out on how bad covid was going to be handled in the U.S.  And I missed a huge opportunity to profit.  We are going to get a shit inflation AND employment numbers the middle of March.  I guess I could "Lay back and enjoy it," as Clayton Williams once said.  But this time I am going to try to profit from it... or I could bet on Stupid?

Fair. She didn't focus on trans rights. It was the shithead that kept bringing it up.

That said, the dems spent a lot of time on women's rights and project 2025. Women's rights didn't resonate with more than 50% of the population. And their targeting of project 2025 was poorly executed.

They should have put more focus on the economy, inflation, and Trump's threats.

Here's a little secret about the coalition. It's now more or less evolved into a political group of minority or underprivileged voices for covering each others’ backs, which is why the GQP focuses on and is successful with the time-honored divide and conquer strategy. And, yes, the Democrats, who are sometimes aligned with Progressives, should fully embrace this fact and get a whole lot better about leading with their economic message to Labor.

The biggest scam was the opening covid response-  "free money for millionaires!" With the stipulation that they would not view amy approved transactions af fraudulent.  So free money, need it or not.Cool to get a million tax payer dollars for preserving jobs when you were never going to lay off anyone anyhow.  Now if some waitress got a couple hundered extra... THAT is where we need to prosecute.  Biggest scam ever.

hmmmmm, it's almost like he's trying to induce an economic crisis so that he can more effectively consolodate power. Every fascist takeover needs a good economic crunch to really motivate the populism, and thank goodness for American ingenuity, he made his own!

They did focus on the economy. It was roaring under Biden by every metric the right uses to measure economies. Inflation was a worldwide problem that started with Covid and Biden/Harris did as well as any in most ways better than other world leaders to curb it to the extent possible. It didn't matter because trannys and blacks and Mexicans. That was their focus and it works because 'murica is a shithole country dominated by shitty people.

Abortion was fucking banned.  I know people that had to go to New Mexico to get an abortion. Nearly 70% of Americans believe abortion should be legal in first tri- mester.

You wanted Dems to ignore that?

THISTHISTHIS.

Of the world's major economies, who was the BEST performer in terms of inflation?  The US....under Biden.

More actual gains were made in bringing strategically important and lucrative manufacturing back to US shores than in decades....via the CHIPS Act...under Biden.

None of that shit mattered.  None.  Because trannies and "DEI" (a term MAGA doesn't understand, and simply used as an excuse to "Make White Supremacy Great Again") and dirty beaners who ruin our country what with all their hard work and building things and picking vegetables.
