LOL

You sound exactly like a post-war Brit incredulous that they were losing their empire. We are losing ours and we are going to be better for it.

I think the vast majority here agree with this

That’s why I don’t get the blanket labeling. Not meant to be a comprehensive list but this is how I think of it:

Bad for America/spend as much as we can afford:

Hitler invading Europe
Saddam invading Kuwait
Brezhnev invading Afghanistan
Putin invading Ukraine
Iran/Hezbollah/etc…attacking Israel

Don’t get involved/waste of American dollars:

Saddam/Iraq 2001
Afghanistan 2001

These aren't two random African or Middle East countries having another scrap. This is an American enemy looking to expand its influence and power by invading a sovereign nation. No, we're probably not going to have a boots-on-the-ground war with Russia anytime soon, but they are our enemy, and they obviously have anti-American intentions.

Severely weakening them by providing the country being invaded--and who want to resist--with old stock (while we stimulate jobs and the economy by funding new tech) is one of the better investments we've ever made.

This guy is too smart to be aggy.  2%er?

You can call them whatever you want, but they have an ass ton of nuclear warheads pointed at the nation you call home.

Sending M1A3 to Ukraine is old and about to be retired but still way better than T-80 and below.

Sorry. Putin is absolutely our enemy and actively wants to destabilize us (and Europe), and is making ongoing efforts to do so. Better?

That doesn't mean I need to be on the financial hook for Ukranian kids going and dying while fighting him.

Y'all are actually fucking insane. This is the rhetoric that got us into Iraq and Afghanistan.

It is the literal opposite of what got us into Iraq (2001) and Afghanistan (2001).

Right, so what’s wrong with doing it?  We’re getting rid of our old shit while someone else is using it to battle one of our worst enemies.  Apologies in advance if this is the same point you were trying to make.

Obsolete US equipment is still pretty effective at killing people and it's also fleecing the pockets of the guys trying to sell the NEW military equipment.

Macro…a drop in real estate prices would be bad.

Micro, a drop would probably good if not great for those who prepared.

Look back over the last 100+ years and hopefully you’ll see, you really shouldn’t want housing prices to drop…unless of course you are part of that (micro) minority that’s liquid and able to take advantage of a situation that’s bad for most Americans. We created a lot of millionaires and increased a lot of wealth post-2007.

Rates should settle in 2025 but don’t expect a return to 3%. I admit I have no way of knowing how we incent first time homebuyers and people who deserve homes without creating situations where the wealthy can take advantage. But, I think wages and productivity should be more the focus here.

One thing we do really need is for government to operate more efficiently. We’ve gotta get Congress out of this paycheck to paycheck lifestyle.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree.   I get that there is pain for some when real estate drops, but I think recessions are part of the economic cycle. Since 2010, it seems like any time an asset class is in trouble we throw debt money at it, drop interest rates, or both.  Those that own that asset are protected, but those that don't, never get the opportunity to buy in.

Yeah it is, the point is Biden never communicated shit, spent the entire time "Being presidential" when we needed a god damn communicator. I will really hate Biden until the day I die, even if Trump goes 100% senile tomorrow. His presidency was the only shot at saving us but instead he wanted a normal presidency.

You would prefer they would have already died fighting because they had shit supplies? There was no scenario where they were surrendering to Putin peacefully and living under his thumb.

Again, we're not actually losing money supplying Ukraine with weapons. Like it or not, it definitely doesn't hurt our economy.

I agree that Russia poses no military threat that to us. Had Putin stayed in his lane, we would have just continued our adversarial relationship, no problem. But invading another sovereign country is frowned upon these days.

wouldn't be shocked at some type of trump action on US defense contractors supplying NATO countries

I want an aggressive US first policy, beginning with streamlining operations.

No reason for both North and South Dakota, Virginia and West Virginia, North and South Carolina. Also every state should be one word. If there is no "Old" state you cannot be a "New" version.

Oh, he is drunk. He does this on the regular. Usually with the oddest hills to die on. It is actually pretty impressive. If I knew him IRL I would try to reason with him to just not post while drunk and maybe talk him into treatment. He is that friend that always ruins a party because he falls through a coffee table. Wild.
