I mean you can literally go to his Instagram and he has the GoFundMe link in his bio.

Do you think he’s trying to scam people via GoFundMe by undergoing an open heart surgery? Make it make sense.

I don't know who runs or owns his Instagram page. I run Instagram pages for all of my clients. They literally have no contact with it.

I don't know who set up the GoFundMe account

I don't know who receives the money for the GoFundMe account

I don't know who you are and you started posting here two hours ago telling people it is safe to send money to a GoFundMe account. That signals major red flags for me.

We are a community and we offer advice to each other. Maybe this is legit, or maybe it isn't, but it's much safer not to send any money and I'm going to communicate that to the people here whom I consider my friends.

Hope this helps!

Yeah, let's get off the gofundme angle here this isn't a fundraiser. This thread can track his recovery.

You think that Henry Melton has someone else run his Instagram page?

For someone who claims to run Instagram pages for clients, you don’t seem to know much about athletes and Instagram.

So…which is it? If he runs his own IG account, and the GFM link is on said IG page, is that not him asking for $? But you also said that a friend made the GFM, and not Henry. So Henry is asking for donations on his IG page to go to a friend on behalf of himself?

Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Some of you are really f*cking dense.

A girl named Amber made the GoFundMe on behalf of Henry. It says so directly on the GoFundMe page. If you go to Henry’s IG, it’s not hard to figure out who Amber is.

She made the GoFundMe for him, knowing he wouldn’t do it for himself. Henry was pleasantly surprised that someone would make that for him and also that people would then start making donations to help out. He has now added the link to his bio once Amber and other friends who donated surprised him with it.

The next question is going to be “how do I know Henry runs his own IG page?”… I’ve known Henry since college and we exchange DM’s frequently. I also know many other pro athletes through going to UT and through my career working in sports and unless you are LeBron James or a major major brand sponsored athlete, you aren’t having other people run your Instagram account.

This forum is for assholes by assholes - it’s our nature, it’s going to be like this in every thread where there’s any excuse for it. People have made some comments on how gofundmes can be scams or ways for people who don’t really need money to grift, people have commented on how he should be fairly wealthy at this point given his nfl career.  I think overall we’re all really hoping he makes a full recovery and gets back to living his best life. And I think we mostly appreciate him for his time with the program and his moments shining on the field.

I don’t understand the anger of some people. If it’s not for you, just ignore it.

I don’t understand how you don’t understand why people are offended. An athlete makes more money in a few years than 90%+ of the population will ever see in their entire lifetime. It’s enough money to never have to worry about paying the bills ever again. But instead of doing that, the athlete blows all the money and then asks others to give them money. That isn’t a story that makes most people feel like giving. It’s just like Mary Lou Retton. And it’s pretty frustrating for most people who scrape by to make a living.

Real bad week for him, real bad day for former Longhorns.

Please put former Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Henry Melton your prayers who is still recovering from a near fatal heart issue that required major surgery. He now has to deal with the loss of his mother Cinithia Melton, who died earlier this week. Melton played football at Grapevine and at the University of Texas before being drafted by the Chicago Bears.

Your comment was that he looked great for someone who just underwent a major heart surgery with 50% mortality rate.

I was just curious if you needed to see him at his worst, or if your justification for not giving money was that “he looks fine”.

It’s your money and you can choose to give or not give. It’s not like someone is holding a gun to your head. I don’t understand the anger of some people. If it’s not for you, just ignore it.

You are new here aren't you?

But seriously- I hope Henry is getting better. There are several villages missing their idiot and this place is overpopulated with them.
