Keep fall back in the middle of the night but move spring forward to 2 pm on a Friday. Make a big thing about it celebrating human ingenuity in the face of self-inflicted problems.

I don’t know why we do it all together. It’s linked to a lot of health issues by depriving your body of sleep immediately after daylight savings time. I also have lights in my house and my car so the darkness doesn’t really affect me.

Would be nice to get rid of it all together, and stay where it’s at now.

I've never quite understood why we all need to be on the same schedule.  Some industries (finance, etc.) yeah, but even a lot of that is 24/7 these days.  Schools, sure.  Covid showed us work from home and flex schedules aren't a big deal in most cases.  Traffic gets better if we spread out commutes according to need instead of "8 to 5".  We're not an agrarian society, however much that canard about DST rang true in the first place.

In short, I agree, leave the clocks where they are as of today and let people adapt to hours of daylight, etc.

It's in the middle of the day for me. I either get a 7 hour shift or an hour of overtime. Why you want to fuck me?

Yeah but that really shouldn’t affect your line of work. The drive thru and fryer run 24/7 anyway…

I think the current system does a good job keeping sunrise within a reasonable band year round while maximizing evening sunlight in the summer

Just stick with standard time. It's what our circadian rhythms are best suited to, according to all the studies.

Would help if US timezones weren't already skewed heavily west. This map is timezones pretty closely following longitude (border counties are assigned based on the longitude of the primary city in their MSA)

Did you know that if you live in Austin and have to get up at 5:30 am clock time tomorrow to get your kid on the bus you're actually getting up at 3:30 am?

Year round DST is bullshit if you have kids or a job with an early start time, especially if you live on the western edge of your time zone where the sun already rises later for the time on the clock.  It would be pitch black on the way to work/school 3/4 of the year. I've always assumed that folks who push for permanent DST are childless degenerates who never get up before noon, or just assholes who love to mow their yard at 9:00 at night just to avoid their wife and bother their neighbors.   I'll never understand why people want it to be light outside later at night in the summers in Texas when it's going to be 100 fucking degrees anyway.  The sun going down is the only thing that cools things off just a bit.  We should want that shit to happen earlier, not later, to fully enjoy summer evenings.   Add in that study after study has shown that DST is bad for your body and health, increases dangers on the roads in the mornings for kids on the way to school as well as commuters, and it's a no brainer to ditch DST entirely and stick to standard time all year.

I think I'm going to start a new spiritual and political movement and call it the Natural "Free Time" Party, or some such, just to rid us of this Big Time tyranny and let us sleep in as God intended.

You should team up with/fight Rep Ryan.

We should have no clocks. Shit will happen when it happens. Planning things down to the nearest day is good enough.

That's known as Island Time.
