The Girl Scouts have been sued by consumers over the alleged presence of "heavy metals" and pesticides in its popular Thin Mints and other cookies.

A proposed class action lawsuit was filed on Monday night in federal court in the New York City borough of Brooklyn against the 113-year-old nonprofit and the cookies' licensed producers, ABC Bakers and Ferrero USA's Little Brownie Bakers.

"She said she would not have bought the cookies or 'would have paid substantially less' had Girl Scouts disclosed the presence of 'dangerous toxins.'"

Thank you for disclosing these cookies may hospitalize me. I'd like 25% off please.

Nothing in that article states FDA guidelines on safety, the levels of heavy metals and toxins found, and whether the levels were above or below industry standards and FDA standards. And certainly the article doesn’t state that the cookies killed people. I would lean more towards a money grab than a consumer risk at this point. And I’ll continue eating the cookies.

They've always been garbage. Tastes like cardboard and made of chemicals, basically. Never understood why people lose their shit over them.

I think they changed at some point, I use to love the chocolate peanut butter ones.  The last few times I’ve tried them they tasted like neither chocolate nor peanut butter.

Crushed thin mints over homemade vanilla ice cream is one of life’s pleasures.

Same. I don’t go apeshit over them. But I buy probably six boxes , a month, when they have a table set out in front of the liquor store (they are shooting fish in a barrel). Samoas are my favorite, Thin Mints for Mrs. CHIEF.

We don’t have a daughter, but I will do what I can to support my friends and neighbor’s daughters.  What’s a little heavy metal amongst friends.
