Really flipped the switch midway through last night's game and it just continued into today.

Texas became dominant and I would like to think coaching had an effect.

As we talked about the batting approach became different and the offense came to life.

The pitching looked different too. They had command and that is made the difference today.

Even when Volantis lost his mechanics in the ninth, a Weiner visit straightened him out.

Big series win that can do nothing but give this team confidence in themselves and the coaching staff, which they probably already had.

With Pierce at the Helm, LSU would have absolutely rolled us took us to the woodshed. Schloss is a magician.

Thanks, Aggies!

The coaching staff is doing a phenomenal job at maximizing this team. This weekend's series clearly indicates that we have an advantage—or at the very least, that we're on the same level—in the dugout compared to the majority of teams we'll face this year.

What did the manager get tossed for? What was he arguing about? I couldn’t tell.

Arguing the call from 1b ump thar farmer did not attempt to bunt the previous pitch.

they had the camera on him and he held up two fingers and said “two fucking times” and then I heard the cheers and knew he’d been run.

Appreciate Jay opening the door for us to win this series by not using Casan Evans last night when they were up 7-6. Made him pay for it.

Casan? C-A-S-A-N?  Thanks, mom and dad, for making me spell my name one million times. Oh, at LSU spelling is optional.

Then they fired Smokey as he hit the tunnel 😂

After Friday night, I was resigned to being a notch beneath LSU this year. Maybe it still ends up that way, but our guys really showed up and showed out these last two games. The turnaround remains ahead of schedule.

First Half GIF

Also, we now have 10 more wins against Power 5 schools than aggy.

This was curious and a great observation.  Is he their closer?  That’s a live arm and a good grasp of how to pitch for not playing a huge role this weekend.

Yeah he is right now, only a Freshman. I could see them moving Shores to the pen. They have a lot of Moffett’s right now in their pen, bunch of dudes that can throw hard but struggle to pitch.

Not sure what Jay was doing yesterday with their pitching staff but Texas certainly thanks him.

The broadcast talked quite a bit today about getting the lead to your best arms.  That’s how LSU failed yesterday.  Those guys had live arms but have spent quite a bit of time against low level competition.  A little Zane Morehouse-like before he learned to pitch.

I am curious how their season plays out.  Outside of buying Skenes they have not done much in the past 8 years or so.  They finished sub-500 conference last year and lost in the regional.  This year they have too much talent to tank, but their non-conference strength of schedule is in the 260s.  That’s one level above SWAC level competition.

Grubbs says hello, it could be interchangeable.

I think Grubbs is more valuable in Friday or Saturday. He could be a 3 inning save guy every weekend.
Ruger looks better in the starter role than middle relief imo.

I don’t know why LSU is hell bent on pulling Eyanson after 2 times through the order. He threw 90+ pitches 7 times last year for UC San Diego and Jay Johnson is handling him with kid gloves. Honestly this weekend I feel like Jay just got out managed.

He certainly did on Saturday. Today we were just better than they were. We definitely had the deeper pitching staff in this series

If you’re referencing my post as one, I never said otherwise.

But Shores missed all of last year and pitched very little the year prior.  He gave up 3 in 3.2 innings versus Mizzou.  Otherwise, he’s pitched against shitty teams.  He’s likely not in prime form.

Eyanson has an almost 9.00 ERA versus Nebraska and Mizzou.  Came from UC-San Diego.

Beck from UIW had a 14+ ERA at KSU in 23.  It was 8.64 last year at UIW.  Six appearances in two years.  He’s not really a pitcher.

Mayers at Nicholls regressed from year 1 to year 2.  76 walks in 70 last year against Nicholls level comp.

Primeaux has 11 career innings.

Benge had a 5.70 ERA at DBU.  Walked 22 in 33 innings.  2 runs in 0.2 innings versus Mizzou.

Rizy.  Freshman from Mass.  Struggled versus KSU.

Ware.  2 years Juco.  Era near 7.

Schmidt.  Freshman.  15 career innings.

Evans looks different than all these others.  Dad’s a coach.  His stuff is top flight. Even his production this year has been better.  Only 1 poor performance.  They clearly trust him for at least 4 innings.

Theyll rely on freshmen arms, guys with control issues or simply guys that haven’t done it at this level.  They no doubt have many, talented options.

Offensively, there’s not a ton of high level achievement at this level of competition.  This weekend they were more disciplined than powerful.  Outside of Jones, they’re looking at the Utah Valley and Indiana State transfers for some pop.

Theyve clearly got lots of ability, but they may run into some issues with lack of clarity on who is the choice that day.  It may take them awhile to lock down that starting rotation.

I did not have the energy to scour another message board to teach them the importance of the past participle.

We didn’t have these problems when we were in the Big XII.

(And except for Arizona State, Oregon State, and Washington State, this wasn’t really a problem in the PAC 12.)

Actually, he was.

It should have been “eaten” up.

(Using the past participle as an adjective, in this case in phrasal verb form, when using a being verb.)

F the SEC and the books that they’ve burned!

PS- I am pulling for Iowa State 🏀 over Ole Miss right now, because F the SEC!

(And F Chris Beard for bringing that violent skank addicted with him from Lubbock! When you see red flags 🚩🚩🚩, process what you’re seeing, mother fucker!)

Idk much about anything in college baseball this season but that LSU team I saw Friday night it’s hard to imagine anyone being better than that. Of course I’m not sure how much of that had to do with our (shitty) approach at the plate and of course anyone can play lights out for 9 innings but I wouldn’t want to have to face this team until Omaha.

When I got home from a church business meeting this evening, my son was watching tombstone, inspired today by Ruger. 🥲

Speaking of Ruger, he is now maybe my favorite player on this team

I think the LSU baseball team tried to kill me a little while ago.  My daughter and I took the dogs up to the ranch after the game was over land, I drove into Columbus to grab some WhatABurger for dinner about 8:30.  As I was coming back and trying to merge onto I10 East from Business 71 I almost got flattened by a big purple bus with LSU written on it in big gold letters.  They must of been in a hell of a hurry to get vet to Baton Rouge

If it makes you feel any better, that was the equipment bus.  The team flies.
