Huh. You should probably be angrier at…Nazis.

I’ll be mad at the first one I meet. Also don’t tell me who to be angry with. The question was simple. It wasn’t a chance for you to correct me.

When shit that you can't actually operate just quits working. Like wi-fi, or home internet in general. I can't just turn it off like a faucet, yet sometimes it just goes out.  And by the time you call the ISP and get some slapdick on the phone, it miraculously comes back on. Fucking ridiculous.

You are terrible at this. Also, I was a SW regional circle jerk champion in '97 and '98.

Respect. Actually I might have been there for ‘98 championship. I remember because Ricky won the Heisman that year. Yall brought it home for us.

So in order to be a Nazi you have to register with a party?

I'm just quoting you, genius.

I don't know that Elon Musk is a Nazi, but it's much in the same that I don't know he's a man.  It sure looks like he's a man, but I've never seen his balls so how can I be sure?  Unlike visual evidence of Elon's manhood, I have seen him give a Nazi salute and parrot talking points that very closely resemble Nazi positions.  Maybe, maybe it doesn't mean he's a Nazi.  But it sure looks like Nazism.

You can see what you want to see. Find evidence where you want to find it. My history book must read a bit differently than yours. That’s cool. Have a great day!

No, you just need to be confirmed as a Nazi by the geniuses of Surly.

So are you mad about the technicalities of whether the he’s a formal member of National Socialist German Workers' Party or are you mad that people don’t like him in general? He’s a white supremacist and overall bigot and he very blatantly used a nazi salute on stage, hence why people call him a Nazi despite very likely not being a formal registered member of the German political party in whatever form it might still exist today. Would you feel better if we said he resembles a nazi or is a Nazi supporter as opposed to he is a nazi? Do you get this mad when someone calls California sparkling wine Champagne? Because it’s coming off as big time cloak room Elon worship. There’s a whole separate thread for that so I’m seriously curious if it’s the technicality that’s bothering you to raise it in this thread.

That so many good people shuffle off this Earth every day but somehow Jerry Jones is still alive.

And yet is not the worst or most detestable professional sports owner in DFW. I fluctuate between angry and depressed over that one. I likely won’t ever watch another NBA game again, another area of interest that has been taken from me. It’s not even about Luka himself, if there had been a return of picks OKC style I could get through some rebuilding years. However, the owner is a complete cunt and I can’t fathom investing time and energy when it’s clear her intention is for the franchise to fail. I loved being a Mavs fan through thick and thin for the last 20 years and it’s over. Does mourning sometimes involve anger?

It’s sparkling wine, dammit!

Actually, it has nothing to do with Elon. My answer was “people that call others nazis” because,

1.  It diminishes what nazis actually are and were.

2. By calling a person a Nazi, you remove their humanity a reduce them to base evil. Then, anything you do or say to them is justified as if it was some sort of operation Valkyrie. Anything is justified to stop the Nazi.

Elon can defend himself. And there is another thread for that. I just think people should be careful with words.

Says the guy who is happy with and unconditionally supports a movement and leadership that characterizes people with last names like mine as "invaders," and "animals," and "poisoning the blood of our country," DIRECTLY leading to the murder of 23 people in El Paso: “This attack is a response to the Hispanic invasion of Texas. They are the instigators, not me. I am simply defending my country from cultural and ethnic replacement brought on by the invasion.”

Your concern for how people "should be more careful with words" is duly noted, and thrown in the fucking trash can with the rest of your gaslighting bullshit hypocrisy.  Get fucked.

Have you ever heard of the German political party Alternative für Deutschland (AfD), and do you know their history? Are you aware of Musk's activities in support of that party?

Are you aware of how Musk reinvited neo-Nazis back to Xitter and how the site actually boosts and promotes their tweets?

Did you know that several Jewish groups have announced they're leaving the site in response to all Musk's Scheiß?

No, see, you don’t get it….we need to choose our words more carefully, except then those words get dozens of people slaughtered, get mobs to attack the capitol, are straight-up lies to congress (that just happened in the past 24 hours), etc. All of THOSE words are cool, and good, and we should continue to 100% support the people who choose those words and reward them with near-limitless power. The real problem is calling someone who is an open apologist for both historical Nazi activities and the current iterations of those ideologies a Nazi. THAT is what should make you angry.
Not blood-soaked Wal-Mart floors, and Buffalo supermarket floors, and perjury, and violent insurrections. Nope, CRITICISM of those things is the real evil.

First of all. I’ll just say that I truly respect your points of view. And I agree that words that incite violence at the capitol are not ok. Neither are words that lead to assassination attempts or violence of any sort.

But since we can’t get past Elon, we can use him in the scenario.

If you were in a room with Hitler and a gun, would you kill him? I would.

What about a general in Hitler’s army? Yes again.

What about a financier of Hitler? Maybe it would depend on if the person knew they were funding the murder of 6 million Jews.

What if you were in a room with Elon Musk and a gun? Would you kill him? I wouldn’t.

What about a VP of Space X? I wouldn’t.

Would you put pipe bombs at an Austin Tesla Dealership to kill Elon’s financiers? Again, I wouldn’t.

But all of these things would be justified if Elon is a Nazi. Unless you’re suggesting there is some nuance to the word. I would disagree that there is nuance to the word.

But- this is the last thing I’ll say about it. Moving on to the aggy screenshot thread for a laugh.

I'm going to turn off my brain and ignore the cognitive dissonance I'm experiencing because I'm in a cult.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go make fun of another cult that also happens to share my worldview.

In all seriousness, what do you call it when under the banner of the state, a person is seized, not allowed legal representation, habeas corpus is suspended, and this person is kept indefinitely and told to shit and piss on the floor?

I don't even understand Musk's quote. The fundamental weakness compared to what? I don't understand the context. What society is doing so much better than western civilization, and how is that being measured? Over what time period are we talking about? Is he talking about current western civilization compared to the past?

There are plenty of examples of western civilization not exactly excelling in empathy, regardless of results.

I read an interview from the leader of the Southern Baptist Convention in the Cloak Room that was downright depressing talking about the book The Sin of Empathy. Is this the new talking point?

It's a fairly recent thing and yes it's being pushed through the evangelical churches.
