Answering your own question

Meanwhile, high profile transfers are getting snapped up left and right.

And still just one high school recruit.

You guys can start the leg rubbing already if you like, but I'm sitting here wondering when the excitement begins.

The only top-200 rated transfer is just a kid who Miller already had.

I stopped scrolling after 200 players because I already know we haven't gotten any other transfers.

What have we done so far? I think Codie and Swain are the only confirmed guys on the roster right now.

Yeah it would have been a fuckup to not get any of his kids from Xavier and Codie is whatever.

If we keep Mark I'll start getting jazzed.

What if we do have the funds and plan to pay Tre for one more season which is why we didn’t think Conwell was worth it and potentially others we’ve been in the running for but haven’t reeled in.

It doesn't matter because it's not happening because any funds you can give to Tre aren't made up by the fact that 1) next year's draft is heavier at the top and 2) he's a year further away from being extension eligible where the big money is

I don't know the details, but I'd be surprised if NIL money could match lottery pick money.  I saw a story on SI that claimed #10 last year made $5.5M.  Add that to the point above about it not getting the player one year closer to a new contract, well . . .

This is a weak draft not sure what next years class looks like but if he can improve stock and make 7 figs why not

It would have to be 8 figures.

Yes his slot would be between a guaranteed 10 and 20 million dollars over the next 2 seasons.

If this guy is to be trusted: https://basketball.realgm.com/nba/info/rookie_scale/2026 and say Tre was getting guidance that he’d be picked in the 15-20 range, then his max salary for first season NBA is a bit above $4.5 mil for next year if he got drafted at 15. I know fuck all about the upcoming talent in following year’s draft class other than Dybantsa, but there’s an ocean between pick 5 max salary and 15 max salary if he was given guidance to work on X, Y and Z to get drafted in top 5-7 the following year. Probably wasted effort to even think about it being a possibility, but whatever. I’m still bitter over Tre’s wasted year.

Tre Johnson isn't going in the 15-20 range. Give me a break. Anyone with half a brain who watches him knows that he isn't going to fall that far.  Here is a sampling of where the major sites have him going:

  • 5 - CBS Sports
  • 6 - NBADraft.net
  • 8 - Tankathon
  • 8 - Bleacher Report
  • 8 - Ringer
  • 8 - Yahoo

For those following along, here is our team as it currently stands:

Current Signed
G – Tramon Mark (Sr) – 6’5, 180
G – Malik Presley (So) – 6’6, 200
F – Dailyn Swain (Jr) – 6’8, 220
F – Nic Codie (So) – 6’8, 200
F – John Clark (FR) – 6’9, 230

Potential Returns
G – Chendall Weaver (Sr) – 6’3, 164
G - Jordan Pope (Sr) – 6’2, 165
C – Jamie Vinson (So) – 6’11, 225

So we currently have 2 starters in Mark and Swain, and a couple of likely 10-15 mpg bench guys in Presley and Codie. Who knows with Clark.

ESPN still has him 5 I think.

Honestly I think him falling past 6 is preposterous but bad draft decisions are made every year.

no reason to assume that weaver is leaving, but he’s the name i’m really waiting on. really really want to see him play here for four years, and definitely want to see him in a more up and down style. really hoping we hear from him soon.

Great shotmaker but hopefully Miller can knock some sense into him when it comes to decision making.

I'd sign up for a Marcus Carr arc for the kid.

This guy was supposed to be a big part of the Xavier team this season. I would think Miller would want him for Texas.

Texas would be a team that has a lot of length with who is coming back.

I don't want no beaches on our team

Wait... unless they're a 6'10, 245lb beach.

Obviously these guys are getting paid and aren’t returning for free, but it’s nice to see that a good chunk of the guys with eligibility left are wanting to stay. Would be pretty easy to bounce after a shitty season and a few of them would have been in pretty good demand by other teams.

Schloss was able to do something similar on the baseball side retaining players and those returning guys have helped set the table in year 1 for what is to come.
