Not gonna lie I had no clue he even played for Cincinnati until his name popped up in the portal discussion, and I watched every minute of our game against them. Usually don't miss things like that.

You must have not been watching closely. How'd you miss his double-double in that game?

It was announced a while back that Texas is playing in the Maui Invitational the week of Thanksgiving with Arizona State, Boise State, Chaminade, NC State, Seton Hall, USC and Washington State.

Don't think the bracket has been announced yet.

Fuck yea. I’m on the volunteer medical staff for this every year hadn’t seen this years teams yet.

I fuck with this lineup/roster heavy. I like it considerably more than what Beard brought in Y1 granted hindsight is 20/20. We may have a Tre Mitchell lurking.
I think Miller knows what he's doing, knows what he wants to do, and has an idea of how to make it happen.

I’m not sure about that. Timmy Allen was 1st team All Pac 10, Marcus Carr was 3rd team All Big 10, Disu was the leading rebounder in the SEC, Bishop had started 62 games for Creighton, Tre Mitchell was 2nd Team A10. And we returned Jones and Ramey who were 2nd and 3rd Team Big 12 respectively. That is a lot of all conference talent.

This team doesn’t have nearly the accolades.

Giving beard credit is white knighting for Derka

Just seems like Mitchell started strong, fell off a cliff after Beards arrest, and has averaged close to a double double both seasons after that one 🤷🏼‍♂️

Not really relevant to Texas anymore so my comment could have just been left as a passing comment instead of a debate taking up a page due to a few conniptions from Derka and the tech loser

He did not average a double double under RT or at Cincinnati.  Why do you keep saying that?

9.6 and 7.5 and 9.9 and 6.9 are perfectly fine for his nearly non-existent offensive skillset, but don't round them both up to double digits.

I said “close to”

10 points and 7 boards is close to a double double. It’s 3 rebounds shy of one. How is that a difficult concepy to grasp? These are numbers we all learn in kindergarten

Good.  I'm feeling extra surly.  I know it's only April, but I observe Festivus year round.  I've got a lot of problems with you people.

Not that I care (or that that has ever stopped me), but I wouldn't describe that as "close to".  Grabbing another couple of boards on average would be a 28% improvement and still only be 9 boards per game.

That's because you know how numbers work. A quick scan of his game logs from this year shows 6 games out of 34 where Mitchell actually had a double double. In Motown's world, thats averaging a double double.

cmon man, give him a break. It is true that he's maybe almost right on the cusp of within double double territory.

lol, what world do you live in? you make terrible, factually wrong posts, then you beat your chest about it, and then when people use kid gloves to point out that you’re wrong you just triple down, keep talking shit, get super upset, neg rep everyone else on the thread, and then blame them for your own idiocy and infantile tantrums. talk basketball if you want to, but a)try and have a clue what you’re talking about, and  b)stop blaming your incessant emotional breakdowns on everyone else. christ.

averaging 6.9 rebounds is not “close to averaging 10”. at all. dillon mitchell got double digit rebounds 7 times in 35 games last year. he also failed to score in double digits 13 times. he finished the year with 6 double doubles, and would have needed to increase his rebounding output by 31% to have averaged double digit rebounds, at which point he *still* wouldn’t be averaging a double double, because he still didn’t score 10 ppg.

stop quintupling down on your idiotic, indefensible take and move on.

Yep, The Texas basketball twitter account told us exactly who was coming back weeks ago. Presley and Vinson were the only ones who didn’t get an “I’m back” post and now they’re both gone.

That's fair - but kind of what I mean by "in hindsight". On paper that team was stacked and a lot of people had Texas preseason top 5 (iirc) but it just didn't quite work out for a few reasons. Obviously some of those guys wound up being core pieces for an actual top 5 team the next season.

I guess what I mean is looking back now, I kind of like what Miller has here better - or at least like their upside to be more than a .500 conference/ro32 team.
