There may be a thread elsewhere, but when we have a #1 seed, the women should have their own thread in the Basketball 🏀 Board.

Thr Texas Longhorns are absolutely spanking #16 seed William & Mary (16-18).

We run more than Tom Penders’ BMW squads did.

Up 34 with 6:59 left in the 4th Quarter.

This Bama/MD game has been good from when I began watching it, girl for Bama(Barker) coldly sank 3 FTs to tie game and now heading into 2nd OT.

This game is insane.

The refs helped Maryland near the end of the 3rd quarter with some questionable calls, but Bama should have still won by 5 to 10 in regulation if they hit free throws and layups at the same rate as most women’s basketball players.

Crazy how many layups Bama has missed.

UPDATE: Refs again are helping Maryland. A blocking foul was called a charge. The Maryland girl was clearly side stepping into contact.

Looks off Bama.

The first wrong call that went Bama’s way, but I think that the refs felt that Bama wasn’t going to make the shot anyway, don’t was better to let them fail than to be the officiating crew that made a decision that wasn’t 100% clear.

Just saw that USCw’s JUJU WATKINS got injured in tonight’s game.

Slight shoulder to shoulder on a breakaway and her right knee buckled. Would be shocked if there wasn’t at least some ligament damage.

UCONN is in the same regional and I had thought that they would be the team making it out of the regional, but especially after JuJu got injured.

She is on tons of commercials. Gatorade (group commercial), NIKE (solo commercial), other shit.

Just two days ago she was all smiley and flirtatious sitting next to Jayden Daniels (before Jayden’s mom sat between them and spoiled the vibe… [cock block]) and two days later she’s out for 6 to 12 months.

…bummer.

This girl is the west coast face of girls basketball. (Sorry to the large lady at UCLA.) No one else even comes close.

Bummer for the game.

Oh whatever. I feel bad for the girl but she hadn't done anything to be a star yet - despite all the ad money.

Lauren Betts - who you're writing off - has a chance to make her name this tournament.

Women hoopers make their name in the Final Four when there are national viewers and the stakes are high.

The "west coast face of girl's (women's) basketball" is Caitlin Clark, btw. Who is also the east coast face of women's basketball.

Really sucks.  ACLs are an absolute epidemic in women’s sports.  She should probably turn pro and be fully healed for the 2026 WNBA season

She is not eligible for the draft in 2026, barring changes to the WNBA CBA.

No, under the current WNBA rules, JuJu Watkins will not be draft-eligible in 2026; she will become eligible in 2027, as she needs to be at least 22 years old in the year of the draft.

She will likely RS the entirety of 2025-26, like most players do with extremely late ACL injuries, such as Olivia Miles.  She tore hers in Feb 2023 and missed all of 2023-24.

Texas got "lucky" Rori's injury happened in December 2023, because she was able to come back in time for the 2024-2025 season.  But February/March ACL injuries tend to be season ending + the entire next season

LOS ANGELES—In what could prove a devastating loss for the top-seeded Big Ten team, University of Southern California star JuJu Watkins reportedly strained her bun Monday during the opening game of the NCAA Women’s March Madness tournament. “While we don’t yet know the extent of the damage, JuJu is scheduled to receive an extensive MRI of her hair this afternoon,” USC head coach Lindsay Gottlieb said during a press conference, discussing her controversial decision to put Watkins back in the game despite an injury that caused the 19-year-old guard to wince and collapse to the ground while clutching her signature updo. “As soon as JuJu tweaked her bun, trainers rushed onto the court and were able to stabilize it with a brace. Hopefully, with ice, hairspray, and firm-hold styling gel, she should be able to maintain her hairstyle for the rest of the tournament.” At press time, Watkins had reportedly been cleared to play tonight so long as she covered her bun with a hat.

Holy crap!

Published yesterday, presumably before her game, since it references the injury to her hair happening in the opening game of the tournament (Saturday’s game).

Awkward.

Also stat padding because she rebounds her misses 3 times before she makes a bucket

Refs doing their part to ensure that South Carolina advances, from no call on SC travel for a layup, a travel by an SC girl who went to the floor being called as a 5th foul on a Maryland post player, to a questionable charge on a Maryland girl as the SC girl may not have even had one foot down and she was sliding to stay in front of the Maryland girl, to a Maryland travel as a stationary player was starting to dribble to make her move.

That’s a player fouling out and about a 6 point swing right there.

LOL just saw Bueckers dropped 40 on those meth heads.

When Paige left the game with 3 minutes remaining, second half scoring looked like this:

Oklahoma   15 points

P Bueckers 29 points
