There will be no winners, only losers in this contest -- if you go 0-4, I will bump this thread in September and point and laugh at you.  (pretty sure no one managed to go 0-4 last season)

I'll take Cincy over and STL under.

Astros fans can skip the AL, because we all know you're going to pick Houston over and Texas under.

I'll take Boston over and Tampa under.

Bonus: Pick breakout player in each league who will be much better than people expect.

I'll take Matt McLain in the NL and Chase DeLauter in the AL.

Like, Casey Mize?  If so, that's the most interesting breakout pick in the thread.

Is that a WAG, or do you know something?

he checks a lot of boxes.

he's 27, which is the age where things tend to click for guys who haven't found it yet. he's a former top pick, so you have to assume that at some point he had a combination of natural talent, makeup, and ability (i assume he can be coached, who knows). he's also on the tigers, who had last year's cy young award winner, who rose from relative obscurity, at age 27.

also he's killing it this spring. which to me means close to nothing. but rather he be killing it than getting blowed up.

and for "breakout", your description seemed to match guys 25+ who haven't broken through, not some rookie who's highly touted and is just now getting his shot.

Someone picked the Rockies over?  You’re either brave, crazy, or both.

NL:  Pirates over, Phillies under

AL:  Cleveland over, Royals under

Nick Lodolo, Osvaldo Bido

Dodgers under and Mets over.

Athletics under and Red Sox over.

As for the Astros and Rangers, I could see either one being 10 above or below their o/u total.  They each have a bunch of guys they'd like to see take the next steps this year.  If they do, either team can contend, and if they don't, or guys like Framber or deGrom go down, they're going to have a very hard time clearing .500.  Also, fuck the Rangers.

I like how Beau's breakout already had a 3.6 bWAR season in 89 games.

Two years ago!  I'll switch to Gavin Lux if it makes you happy, because he's my current Guy Who I Thought Would Be Great And Can't Admit That He Sucks.

Mets over, Dodgers under.

Cleveland over, Yankees under

Cam Smith for AL, Bubba Chandler for the NL

The Mets got a lot better this offseason and should be able to trade for more talent mid-season. If Lindor can play well to start the season, like he did to end last season, they should be in great shape to win a lot more games this year. Holmes moving to SP will be interesting, but I think he can do it.

I think the injury bug catches the Dodgers this year and derails their plans of a 100 win season.

Cleveland made some moves, but primarily they should have a better starting rotation this year. If Bieber can come back mid-season and be anything close to what he was, they will be in great shape for the playoffs. I think they will promote a few guys to play 2B and OF during the season. Jhonk should be a starter and mash a ton of homers right behind Jram.

Yankees lost Soto in free agency, Cole to TJ surgery, Stanton's arms are falling off and they have a bunch more injuries to deal with before playing even 1 game so far. Not looking great for their season in a very tough division.

This is much harder than last year, most numbers look damn good. Only one I struggled with picking last year was AL under and it's the one I missed. But have to play so...

AL Under - Boston

AL Over - Chicago

NL Under - Philadelphia

NL Over - Chicago
