Florida could have used that TO at the end. But the competition to keep all TOs strikes again.

I thought their coach's TO usage was bad in the UCONN game.

Think his inexperience may cost them a deep run.

Tony Padilla is the absolute worst official in the entire game of basketball at all levels. I fucking hate that guy. Always inserts himself into the game thinking people paid money to come watch him ref.

love watching a S16 game in an arena with a half empty lower bowl.

Better be glad it's an arena vs. a stadium.  Get that tomorrow night in Lucas Oil. But 1/2 of West Lafayette will be in Indy so it'll be (somewhat) crowded.

Guessing you're missed out that Valentine is still working the Tournament.

BYU is being really smart by just going right at Bama and trying to get them in foul trouble. It might not work in the end considering Bama's shooting tonight but it's a smart strategy

e: I wish more teams would do that against teams like Bama. You have to make them guard or their legs are just gonna be fresh for shooting the whole game.

Haven’t watched much Alabama, do they always shoot like this? Why the fuck can’t we find just ONE guy who can shoot like that.

because nate oats is possibly the best offensive coach in college basketball, and we haven’t hired an offensive minded coach since tom penders.

I'm not sure what BYU's defensive plan was but they have been sagging off shooters and barely contesting perimeter shots the entire game.

I think there is enough film from the season that they should have known that was not a good plan.

7:14 to play and they have 97 points. Crazy

Yes, 1st round only.

Any time he works the Tournament any and all related commentary starts with him.

Doug Sirmons is way worse with Joe Lindsay not far behind.

Valentine has calmed down a bit since he’s getting older and not in as many big time games. He will still get those middle of the road ACC games on ESPN though.

Defer to and appreciate all your insights on this aspect. Such a tough part of the game.

I go back to Valentine when he really wanted to be the show vs.  a very distant part of the game (see Knight). But I go back a little further to Mike Tanco who had the same thing going on.

They were talking about the 1989-90 Loyola Marymount team and I had a bit of an interest in them because when I took part at the broadcaster camp it was held at Loyola and that was also the site of the NBA Summer League. Hank Gathers was a camper with us and he was a really good dude. Friendly with everyone. So, of course everyone who attended ended up rooting for Hank that following season, and then the tragedy happened.

I think the NCAA game they lost to UNLV they scored a hundred but also gave up 130 points. An amazing run.

Even against air, that is a pretty good shooting performance by Bama.

Sometimes they just look unbeatable, but other times just average.

Such is basketball.

Yes and they have a good inside game too but rarely use it. I predict in one of their next games they will not be so good from 3 and will get beat. Duke might be next so we will see.
