lanier can’t create his own shot, he’s a catch-and-shoot guy. if they can’t get him the looks he likes this will just get more and more ugly.

yeah, lanier can’t hit anything. this is gonna be a loooooong day for tennessee.

8 points with less than four minutes left in the half. countless missed jumpers. just a miserable offensive performance.

tenn needs to finish the half like it's the last two minutes of the season. pick up the fucking pace, run and gun

u of h needs to double down on defense. take smart shots

best defense in the country, best shooting team in the country. they got overlooked all year because of duke and auburn, but this is by far the best team that sampson has ever put together.

This is the Rick Barnes offense I remember.

The 2001 Big 12 tournament championship was the exact type of game I had in mind when I saw these two were going to play (Texas didn’t score the last 11 minutes of that game) and looks like it’s playing out that way… except Tenn was never in this one

This may be it, fellas. An entire career dedicated to the tireless pursuit of offensive ineptitude culminates in this masterpiece. Rick's magnum opus.

tenn - stop shooting three's, drive the fuckign ball and make baskets. fucking block out on those defensive rebounds. every man on a u of h body, every fucking shot

u of h - amp up the defense. no easy / fast n contested lay ups. smart high make shots. take your time on O.

I remember watching that on spring break from my hotel room in Daytona. It somehow didn’t kill the party.

i mean they’ve had a ton of open shots, they’ve just missed them. not a lot he can do about that.

Start pushing for good layups or get to the FT line any way possible (except Barnes teams always sucked at FT), aka calming down.

Like someone mentioned this is deja vu x 20

The physicality rattled them, rattled his leader on the floor. They made enough stops on defense to stay in it. Lanier bricking 3s on three consecutive possessions is when it got out of reach. They needed to work differently on that end but took the bait.

two wide open catch-and-shoot looks to start the half and they miss both. they’ve had the looks they want, but the entire team is ice cold.

they’ve tried that, but this houston defense has shut down the paint. tennessee’s guards are struggling to beat their man, and when they do they get met at the rim with a violent swat. hitting jumpers was always going to be the key, and they’re laying an absolute egg.

I don’t know that it’s typical rick Barnes offense and instead Houston is just much better on defense than Tennessee’s offense.

Tennessee is getting good looks, and part of the reason they keep missing is because of how great Houston’s D is

The shot chart says otherwise it was an insane 3 point desperation game.
