Nope, Florida. Duke/UH

They are impressive. And Michigan St. is inept offensively. I think they can handle Florida. I'm not so sure about Houston and Duke.

I don't think Auburn or Florida can beat either Duke or Houston. We'll see.

Houston’s D is so good it could shut down South Austin’s mom.

Chuckster, churros, and gauc, all on the riverwalk.  The winner of Duke Houston is a 5+ favorite on Monday, I think.

If the officiating is vintage playoff officiating, Houston has a very good shot at beating Duke.
If it's ticky-tack protectionism bullshit, Duke rolls.

Very similar to never knowing how the officials will call the DBs in an NFL playoff game.

The dorks who pick all #1's and no upsets doing very well in the office pool this year.

"Chalk" is at 97.4% in our group. But we deliberately do one every year in the mix.

It is in 2nd place and the person beating it likes sports, but doesn't know a lot about college basketball specifics.  She wins if Duke wins.

I think, and I was just talking to friends In Auburn about this, the hierarchy of the final four teams is Duke, then Houston, then Florida and then Auburn. All four can win. That Duke/Houston game depends on how tightly they call fouls. I think Houston can certainly beat them. We’ll see Saturday.

Auburn gonna be in trouble if Broome can only use one arm.

Duke will get a whistle against Houston. I fully expect two Houston players on the bench early in the first half with foul trouble and Duke in the bonus within 8 minutes in both halves.

They way they ref the games now has made this less fun to watch for me.  A foul isn't a foul unless you are driving to the basket and are 6 inches taller or 40 lbs heavier than the defense.  Murdering for a rebound:  allowed.   Out of bounds calls:  cannot be correctly made without super slow mo.

This was driving me insane after Tech/Florida. It's ultimately not why we lost (we blew it) but:

  • We had 38 points in the paint, they had 30
  • We took 43 shots in the paint, they took 25
  • They shot 27 free throws to our 13

I almost never complain about college basketball officiating and the sweet 16 onward is usually very well officiated, but that kind of FT delta when you consider both of those categories is almost unexplainable except by poor officiating. It's like we just weren't getting the calls simply because they were taller than us. Pretty much the exact same thing happened against Arkansas.

Missing the front end of one and ones kinda contributed to the delta.

Personal fouls were about the same between the two.

Florida would have been better off fouling TT in the act of shooting. Would have probably won by double digits.

Golden taking advantage of the single bonus at the end was a great strategy.

Yeah you're not wrong about that, that cost us the game straight up. It was an anomalous night for sure, we had been pretty nails at the FT line all year. Frustrating way to lose.
