^^^^^This right here

Getting Whitley and Ort back soon will hopefully add some depth to the bullpen. Terrible fucking loss though regardless

The freshest arm who had just been recalled from AAA.

Remind me, why was he sent down?

I forgot about Van Wey. Yeah I agree to a point and would have much rather seen him pitch with that five run lead.

3. Without recording an out.

He was correct he only walked 2...Master Boner led off with a single

Wasn't paying total attention I guess. He still fucking sucks.

Because he sucks and was the worst pitcher on the roster.

I was hoping for him to get in. I'm a sucker for MLB debut stories/moments and root for them as soon as possible b/c the never know what's going to happen.

not sure his contract status and cap hit, i'd dfa him and call up a aaa arm, frees up a spot on the 40 man

Ok I'll give some smoke to Espada for that one. Really questionable imo to not bring in Van Wey fresh with nobody on base and a big lead. That's a perfect opportunity to get him a taste of the bigs.

any mlb BP should hold a 5 run lead in the 8th

epic BP fail. go out there and fucking hold the line

Yep. And we you fucking suck and consistently producing runs you’re not gonna have a great season when you finally do then shit the bed on the mound.

It’s early…. But this looks like an inexperienced team on the field and in the dugout.

Not seeing the needed progression by the HC in year 2

I kind of see it this way as well. Yeah he doesn’t have as much to work with as the recent rosters, but I don’t get the vibes it would matter either. Hopefully we see that turning around with more experience before it’s too late.

That was the obvious choice and you do it in the 8th, so if he shits the bed and let’s then back on the game you can still bring your closer in for the 9th. Which, as it turned out still happened, but…

nah that's silly.

Abreu was given a two-run lead with three outs to go and pitched like a mental midget.

A 2 run lead we had to get back after being up 5-0.  Espada pulling Yordan and Alvarez when he did was bad management.  It was 5-0 but I didn’t like it at all.

I’m trying to find silver linings and have high hopes but it’s tough.

Yordan and Cam.

Every time Espada tries to stretch out a reliever it bites him in the ass. There was no reason to bring Contreas out to start the 8th.

I’m going to amend this. I don’t think it was a mistake to bring Contreas out to start the 8th. Espada’s mistake was not bringing in Okert after he gave up the single. Okert should have been ready to go at the start of the inning. If Contreas has a good 8th inning, Okert will start the 9th anyway and if Contreas fucks up, then Okert is ready to go before it becomes a dumpster fire.

You don’t have to worry about having Okert getting hot and not using him because he’s definitely going to pitch.

Espada does need to learn to anticipate that stuff before it goes down.

Nice that the Astros cut Jalen Beeks to keep Luis Contreras.

Jalen Beeks is the early winner for small sample size luck.  I wouldn’t lose any sleep over that one.

Or, you know, you could keep the guy that has actually proven he can pitch in the Majors over Luis Contreras.

Walker’s average exit velocity and barrel percentage match up with his 2024 numbers. Walker’s going to be fine.

Abreu’s EV and barrel percentages went way down in 2023 and 2024 from his 2022 season.

I miss Bregman and Tucker. Not the same watching this team without them. Extra painful that they’re both doing so well with their new teams. Fuck Jim Crane and Dana Brown.

It gets better. You’ll really love seeing the only player batting over .400 so far this year (qualified ABs)

Also Abreu with 1 WAR already making the major league minimum, while we have .2 from Smith/Chas/Dezenzo.

Maybe stop signing old AF first basemen.

We couldn't resign Tucker because we would have had to pay him until he was 36!  He may have been washed by then!

Sure seems like Kyle Tucker wants to be a FA.

As opposed to taking a 6 year $200 million extension?  Yeah, probably.
