Yordan needs a day off to reset.

He needs to get out in the field.

Fortunately he will be in left tomorrow.

Unfortunately, that probably means Espada is going to sit the only hot bat he has right now

I want to rep this post in multiple ways. I like the idea of getting Yordan in LF but rage against the idea of sitting Altuve.

we had sunday off and have this coming friday off (ridiculous MN opening day buffer). sitting jose tmrw would be 3 days off in a 6-day span.

Thanks. I hadn’t looked ahead.

That makes me feel better about tomorrow. Should be our best lineup

Caratini likely to catch.

Diaz at DH

This offense is fucking hard to watch. I know it’s early, and I’m not one to freak out over small sample sizes, but it looks fairly bleak. Sigh.

Some fun stats:

33 TB and 4 XBH are dead last in MLB.

9 total runs and 8 RBI tied for dead last.

.175 AVG and .496 OPS are 29/30, trailing only ATL's abysmal .144 and .474.

I felt better about last season's start with Bregman and Tucker in the lineup.

We'll see if this lineup can get it together.

Walker barely had a spring training and is getting unlucky on some hard ass hit balls, paredes hits 400 balls but can't keep the shit fair.

I got no excuse for Yordan or Diaz...except they are just sucking ass...hopefully Yordan playing the field wakes him up or something.

We already knew Meyers, Chas, Rodgers were gonna suck at the plate.

5 games in I am not really worried with the first 4 mentioned. The other 3...well they are shitty but it wouldn't be as bad if 6 of the 7 other batters weren't complete dogshit right now.

And this is the reason to not freak out about the offense. Montero needs to go but other than that I’m not worried about the pitching. Bullpen has been mostly gruntling outside of Hader not missing bats.

I’m not seeing the same thing many of you are seeing this roster and lineup are not constructed very well. It’s like we have given up but are not willing to go full rebuild. Aging veterans…. One rookie to keep fans interested it’s kind of lame.
This doesn’t look like some mastermind GM at work finding diamonds in the rough or one that has unlocked an analytical cheat code. Looks like like lazy ineffective leadership.
Maybe Brown is a victim of Cranes mistakes and lack of money but damn this could be a really long lackluster season.

Outside of Cam what has you excited about this years Astros’ team?

It looks like Altuve still has gas left in the tank and can have another really good year.

I like Paredes’ approach at the plate and think he will has a similar WAR to Bregman.

Yordan will come around and is a generational talent at the plate.

Walker was a good signing and those 100 mph EV shots will start finding holes.

Yainer will be good at the plate as well.

Starting pitching will be a Top 8 group in the league and the bullpen has depth.

They need to let Chas play CF and see if he can find his 2023 form again.

Altuve, Yordan, Diaz, Pena, Hader, Framber, Paredes, Walker, Brown, Abreu and the possibility of getting LMJ, Garcia, France and Javier back at some point this season.

Yeah the only two everyday players we have that are over the age of 28 are both All Star caliber players.

You aren't excited because they are hitting like single A players right now.  Calm down.

The offensive performance is way way way too small of a sample size for the predictable freakout on surly. Alvarez, Walker, and Diaz have an OPS of .325, .200, and .304 through five games. That's obviously going to get significantly better. The pitching has been solid so far, but the bats really need to get some juice going to avoid another shitty month to start the season.

I knew Dana Brown was getting way too much credit and praise this spring.

It’s been 5 games.

and final judgement for the tucker trade won’t come for years, possibly into the next decade.

Need to hire Michael Brantley to be the next hitting coach to takeover whenever Citron gets canned. This team hasn't been the same on offense since he retired, and that dude knew how to get on base.

Don’t give me Michael Brantley.

Give me Mickey Brantley

This isn't little league, it's the players not the coaches

that's half true.

it's the players when the offense is getting on base and scoring a lot of runs; it's the hitting coach when the offense sucks.

does cam smith bite on a similar type extension ....
Jackson Merrill, Padres agree to $135M, 9-year extension @ByRobertMurray 1st
Quit quoting dipshit Schwab lol

These arent even the same situation right now. Merrill actually already produced like an AS for a year. At the end of the season if he produces sure, but let's tap the brakes. He is 3 weeks from being sent down at going rate.
