was licorice pizza legitimately good?  I always meant to watch it.

It's worth watching, but I think I had my hopes set super high because of the trailer.

In for this.  I've only ever seen boogie nights.  Planning on a PTA watch party thru the week as the wife is out of town.  Any recs on where to start?

Inherent Vice and Licorice Pizza are fun. The rest of his movies are not fun. Great, but not fun.

PTA is a genius. He got Oscar worthy performances from Mark fucking Wahlberg and Tom Cruise.

Not sure there is a right answer to this, but I would watch them in chronological order unless you are just looking for the highlights. There Will Be Blood and The Master are two of the great films in cinema history, but they are certainly heavy. Phantom Thread is in my personal top 3 for PTA (username checks out), but some find it slow. Magnolia is an epic. Licorice Pizza will feel like a refreshing iced tea after watching all the others.

Inherent Vice, Hard 8 and Punch Drunk Love are historically considered his lesser films, but even those would be the best films in most other directors’ filmography.

Ok, I'll start with Hard 8.  Thanks!

Hard 8 is criminally underrated

Yeah, Hard 8 is a good place to start.  Terrific film.  Follow it up with Boogie Nights (my personal fave among PTA's movies), and that's a really good double feature.

I don't really know what it's about, but I'll watch just about any PTA film.  In.

yep, absolutely!

PTA, Coens, and Tarantino... magnificent trio. might not always be the best ever, but they consistently make original, interesting and usually fantastic films!

I’m a little jealous of someone watching all of those PTA films for the first time. But I’ve somehow never seen The Master so I get to check that out with fresh eyes.

So far finished hard 8 and about 45 mins left in Magnolia.  Skipped Boogie Nights as I've already seen, but will probably go back and rewatach after I finish the others.
