I don’t think you know math good. Might want to re-check your work.

I don’t think you know how the Richter Scale works, or how much of anything works.   Maybe just stick to ordering shitty wife beaters and fake chains from Amazon rather than open your mouth and declare to humanity what we already know.

It’s more an indictment on society than me that I went through high school, college, and well into adulthood and never was told what log scale meant, or how it’s applied. Until today. I imagine unless you are in the STEM world you would never find out without seeking it.

Sorry you tipped out at pre-algebra

Seeing the building those people were on swaying compared to the horizon almost made me a little queasy.

I already get a little bit of vertigo on tall buildings.  I’d never go in one again if that happened to me

Being sloshed out of the rooftop pool and over the top of that protective glass would be a fucking random way to go.

The last thing to go through your mind could be something equally as random - somebody walking out of the building below, a car parked below, some tree on the sidewalk, your own asshole depending on how you hit the pavement, etc.

Great googly moogly.  Assuming this was somewhere in Myanmar?  If this is just a teste of what they are dealing with over there, 10K fatalities may be an underestimation.

Reuters article this morning about rescue ops

Quote
A video filmed by a Mandalay resident on Saturday and shared with Reuters showed patients in beds, some attached to drips, on the grounds outside a 500-bed orthopaedic hospital in the city.
Public and private health care facilities in Mandalay, including the Mandalay General Hospital and parts of Mandalay Medical University, were damaged by the quake, according to the World Health Organization.
Russian and Indian rescue workers were heading to Mandalay, and multiple teams of Chinese, Thai and Singapore rescue personnel have also arrived in the country.

Lack of US rescue teams is conspicuous.
