A robust debate ensued.  To cancel girls’ swimming entirely or to bend the “no mixed bathing” rule enough to allow me to supervise the girls’ swim.  This was a close run debate, with many cabin moms falling squarely on the side of maintaining the purity of the river.  I was closely questioned as to my ability to contain my lust and focus on the job (mind, I worked at a public pool and also swam competitively and was well acquainted with the temptations of a high-cut swimsuit leg).  Eventually, a compromise was reached that I should put my shirt on during girls’ swimming hour, my own considerable charms apparently being too much for the sheltered young lasses of the church camp to gaze upon.

This sort of pearl clutching is more often than not a self-report by those people vocing their "concern"

I grew up in the church of Christ to a family who was “liberal” as far as that goes, and I also worked as a lifeguard.  I’d volunteer my time at church camp, and one year disaster struck: there were not enough girl lifeguards to monitor the girls’ swimming hole time.

My point in this story is that the GOP today is half busybody church camp cabin moms and aspiring brownshirts yearning to club people as they get shoved onto the train.

...while simultaneously needing a good dicking down.

There is nobody on earth hornier than busybody church moms imagining what the youth group is up to.

They pretty much killed it by getting outpaced by other states in incentives.

Yeah but that started when they killed incentives to certain films and tv shows for “moral” reasons based on content

All I know is "Dallas" was one of the most moral shows in television history.

Exporting Texas values?

As if we never said, "Oh fuck!" as settlers, Texas Rangers, in the oil patch, on a farm, on a 114 degree day, or during a hurricane...

Fuck is one of the most universal words ever invented, and it's quite Texan to use it.  Of all of the critiquing of Landman for shit that wouldn't happen in real life, I thought BBT absolutely nails the dialect and lexicon of a genuine Texas good ole boy oil man.

"Fuck" is very versatile. I would argue that only "shit" is more versatile.

Wrong.  Clearly you don’t know fuck about shit.

Exporting Texas values?

You're overthinking the cursing. Just look at the Texas values currently represented by our top politicos (unabashed greed, moral depravity, adultery, thievery & using high office to amass wealth illegally, etc). Add to that the continued erosion of rights for women, children, POC, the LGBTQ+ community, etc.

"Texas Values" = be a straight, white, male Christian (in name, not deed) and everything is great.

Yelling "Fuck!" out of anger isn't an expression of "Texas Values"?

NGL. I’m totally in love with that Texas Tech girl. Has anyone doxxed her? Because I need her address to uhhh… send flowers.

Also. The title is this thread is “Quite possibly the dumbest thing ive seen”

You’re missing the word “yet” at the end of the sentence.

Fuck is the best word in the English language.

I learned, while sitting in Dr. Southern's classes at the University of Texas, probably while drinking a big-ass coffee to irrigate the Vietnamese street cart food in my stomach obtained next to the fountain, that "Fuck" is an ancient Indo-European root with the general sense of hit it again. The Germanic F and K sounds shifted from an earlier P and G, retained by most other branches like Latin, see pugnacious, pugilism.

So if some politician doesn't like "fuck," that just tells me that they are against a basic Western European concept without which there'd be no Beowulf, no Chaucer, no Shakespeare nor General Hospital, because there wouldn't have been any fucking babies to grow up and read or write plays or poems or TV shows. Talk about your Replacement Theory, might as well sterilize the actors and film crews while we're at it.

I get that Dan Patrick has freely chosen the path of eunuchhood, and I applaud his happiness. That doesn't mean he gets to cut the dicks off innocent Texas schoolchildren. That is just wrong.

Am I the only one who remembers this from the early days of audio file sharing? Pretty sure this would have been a top download on Napster which hit its very short peak my freshman year in college. It was literally everywhere for a few years.
