You're gonna win the Surly pool if UH wins. I'll come in 5th. Which pisses me off because I picked the correct title game I was just too shitty elsewhere in my bracket.

Finishing 5th out of 67 entries is nothing to sneeze at.  If UH wins, kudos to you, brother.

Flagg finished 27/7/4/2/3.

It's just tough to win with your best player being a one-and-done. It's only happened twice.

It's going to be a very tight spread. Think UH maybe opens -1.5?

Fla -1.5, according to ESPN just now.

Sounds right. Just wasn't sure what direction to go.

I gotta disagree. Duke wasn’t putting the ball in Proctor’s hands. Anyone else and Duke wins at the FT line. They had to play it that way and it worked.

i personally felt that in this specific situation that houston’s best chance was to let that possession play out, get a stop, hit a three, and then play the foul game, which is exactly what they did. i have zero doubt that the EV(?) of houston having everything go right in that scenario was lower than the EV of them winning the game by fouling on that possession, but just the way the game was going i felt that the no.1 thing they needed to do get back into the game was to get the lead to 3, which they weren’t going to do by fouling duke while down six. i would not recommend doing what they did as an ethos, but i really did agree with that decision at the time, again, just based on game flow.

hahaha. nah i’ve actually been a big fan of florida this year, and ive felt for a long time that duke was the best team in america and that florida was next. i had duke beating florida in my bracket, but i always said that if houston could beat duke then florida could/would win it all. in fact ive got them at +1300 from a bet i made in early february, so ive put my money where my mouth is. should be a great final game.

I've been saying all week I didn't think either Florida or Auburn could beat Duke or Houston and I'm sticking with that

I didn't think Florida could beat Texas Tech but, you know, here we are.

Flagg hit a two-pointer at 10:31 to put Duke up, 45-58

Their only other basket was again Flagg, a three-pointer at 3:03 to put them up, 55-64.

Go look at the play-by-play. It looks like they only got two other shots up the final three minutes of the game. I could be wrong but, even if I am the Houston defense is just relentless. That’s why I said before the tournament that I thought they really had a great chance to win, and that they reminded me of those old Georgetown teams that would just wear you down.

Just fun to watch.

Don't think the fact that if we hadn't choked this could easily be a Big 12 vs Big 12 final hadn't crossed my mind lol

I think the basketball Gods that gave Florida that win were the same ones that gave UH this one.

If you believe in such silly things.

Extremely similar collapses too, ours was just on a slightly longer time scale

I think Duke's was worse if it makes you feel better.

y’all ever notice that a lot of final four teams are the last teams you’d ever want to brawl with? the size on the court for these two games (not to mention the athleticism and aggression) jumped out on the screen. these are four thuggish ruggish teams out here. i love that about the final four- it’s a grown man’s game.

I saw a video yesterday showing Houston doing timed team mile runs. The team averaged a 5:19 mile and the bigs were all under 5:40. You can absolutely see that as the game plays out. It just felt like eventually they were going to overwhelm Duke at some point if they had enough time.

i saw that. that was actually unbelievable, to have a cbb team that’s built for repeated short bursts of sprinting,  to have the entire team running sub-6 minute miles. those guys go very very hard in their strength and conditioning and it shows.

Walter Clayton Jr was unranked in high school and went to Iona. And even when he entered the transfer portal, he wasn’t ranked in the top 60 of transfers that year.

Well... He's going to the NBA and he can fn play.

Houston is the smallest team in the FF, but the biggest dogs.

I've been a few six packs on Houston and Florida. This is the game I think I want.

Haven’t seen any of the thread since about the 5 minute mark.

I can’t recall a bigger gag than what Duke threw out there late.

That's Houston basketball. They're like Pythons. Have been for years, but this is the first time they've had any real scorers.

When they were down 12 (like 58-46,in 2H), I told the dudes at the watch party that this was a Houston game. Duke averages NBA points, which means they hadn't played that level of defense.

Tech's will certainly be forgotten after tonight.

It probably depends some on who wins on Monday.  If UH wins, the Duke game gets elevated to iconic status and no one will remember the Tech collapse against Florida.  If Florida wins, the Duke/UH game will still be remembered, but the comeback against Tech will be discussed a lot as well.

Maluach gave Duke nothing. The biggest guy on the floor (and supposed top 10 pick) had ZERO boards.

He and the Aussie were both bad.

Flagg was unreal but at the end of the day 18.
