Houston rolling the dice on a coach nobody else was interested in hiring because of his baggage sure did work out for them. 6 consecutive trips to the Sweet 16 or beyond.

The thing that's crazy in hindsight is his "baggage" was....calling recruits on the landline telephone too many times?

He's the one guy who has ever been associated with OU that I like in any way. Seems like a solid guy.

During a game with Texas, the OU fans started a derogatory chant like Texas Sucks or Fuck Texas, and Sampson walked over to game announcer’s microphone and told the crowd to stop it, that it was classless.  Never seen any other coach do that before.

Looking back, I recall a common discussion with Florida is how young and inexperienced Golden is at this level (6th year coaching, 3rd at Florida, took over a team that had missed the tournament the year before), but for some reason that never came up with Scheyer (3rd year coaching, took over final four team).

It's odd how certain narratives get locked in.

Like everyone giving Pearl CotY in March even though he was very much outcoached by Golden this season.

In retrospect, it’s pretty amusing watching most of the coaches who got in trouble for these type of violations and ones that are now legal with NIL have success in this era.

7’2” Maluach, ZERO rebounds and one block.

Only 10 bench points combined for both teams.

I haven't looked at the box score but it felt like Houston had about 30 offensive boards

couldnt happen to a better collection of fucks.

Which reminds me...even in the NBA, players are so complacent against the full court press because we never see it besides maybe in final minute of a game. college and NBA players literally dont know what to do.  so many times its an adventure for even the inbounder.

Yeah, Duke never ran anything other than the “Cooper Flagg is gonna make a cut and you’re going to fire it in his direction and hope he gets fouled” inbounds play.

It's just wild to me that they essentially gave Pearl the CotY award like a month ago and made it official before the season was over like it was a gimme.

Pearl (Auburn)
Overall Record: 32-6
vs Quad 1: 19-6
vs Net Top 10: 5-5
SEC: 15-3 (SEC Regular Season Champs)
SEC Tournament: 1-1 (lost in seminfinals)
vs. Florida: 0-2
vs. Alabama, Tennessee: 2-2

Golden (Florida)
Overall Record: 35-4
vs Quad 1: 15-4
vs. Net Top 10: 7-2
SEC: 14-4 (2nd place, Regular Season)
SEC Tournament: 3-0 (SEC Tournament Champs)
vs. Auburn: 2-0
vs Alabama, Tennessee: 3-1

They probably didnt want their COTY winner sending out celebratory dick pics to all the voters.

That could have something to do with it. Although nothing came out of the investigation, there is still a shadow and something may still come out of it.

It certainly makes one question the officiating last night. The refs were pretty blatant in their attempt to will Auburn the win.

Everyone has already forgotten that Bruce had a 3 year show cause for NCAA violations as well as being found guilty of a cover it up and really wanted a reason to give him the award.
