Weren’t they forced to hire fat girls at one point?

I think at some point they went from being proud of their skimpiness and higher standards and as society changed it was a mix of beautiful blond young girls didn't want or have to get ogled by middle aged middle class creeps in real life (they could get paid online or go to higher end places) and there was pressure to not be discriminatory to BIPOCs and different body shapes.

So then it went from being hot young girls to a grab bag of all kinds which slowly changed to where it was a bunch of BIPOCs who are "thicc" (aka fat) and only minority men would go to these places for the shrimp and MMA PPV fights.

At least that was my observation over decades of going to the Dallas West End Hooter's (which was once an anchor for that area).

Always liked their fried chicken sandwich, 3 Mile, with curly fries & Ranch. But it's been a damn minute since I've been.

Twin Peaks & Wild Pitch still do real well here in FW just across I-20.

THIS!!! 3 mile dip, but I would do a side of 'hot' instead of ranch for my dipping sauce.  Big Shiner of course.

Ive been to that one a few times, I liked it.  The one on Ray Hubbard has a great patio bar.

The last time I went there (West End) the waitress had visible bullet wound scars and was a very large latina and the other was a very clearly skitzing meth waitress.

I don’t know, but maybe the whole chicken wing craze is on the downside.

This! Chicken wings were great when they were a value option. With the price they go for now, you can get better bar type food for the same price.

Also, not real surprised by this announcement. At least in North Dallas, if you want scantly clad women, there are better places. If you want want a sports bar with better food but not there girls there are tons of better options.

I think the attraction that hooters had when I was in my 20s was that it was much harder to find the combination of sports bar with lots of TVs, good food, good looking women and food service.

Ojos Locos is a better option anyway

Wish they had one closer to Allen/McKinney

The west end location was always the move before Mavs games or after work to watch some games with friends. Wings were kind of meh for awhile now but the chicken strip grilled cheese fucking slams

also, color me surprised that TGI Fridays went under... and also somewhat glad.

Absolute garbage franchise. Horrible food and watery alcoholic drinks.

I hope Chili’s is next.

I’ve told this before but I was in Singapore for some customer meetings over three or four days and at the end we all went to dinner. So where did our ex-pat American sales guy take us?

Yep Chili’s.

One of the saddest places I've ever been was the (now defunct) Waco Hooter's.  Dropped the boy off for a baseball tournament, but had 2+ hours to kill before his game.  World Cup was on, I looked for a "sports bar" that would have it on, and where I could get a beer and some lunch.  Hooters was nearby.

Dear lord, that place was sad.  Third tier Waco talent working there, and a lot of low-rent dudes who brought their wives and kids with them for a nice Hooter's lunch.  I was the only one in the joint watching Germany-Sweden.

Wait, they were just sold back to their original owners right? Florida still has some OG non-franchise Hooters that are pretty damn good so this could be a good thing… Right?

Chili's is on an upsurge right now. Don't hold your breath.

Last time I went there, the food was solid. Sure, not as good as what I make myself or the many places I do go to now, and that might've been over a decade ago ...

TGIFriday's tho was NEVER good. The sort of place a private equity fund might actually improve, it was so bad. Like Mercedes buying out Chrysler.

The Chili’s $10.99 meal deal, which has an offering of a smashburger (and it’s pretty good), fries, a drink, and an appetizer (chips and salsa for us) is f’n solid.

One of the saddest places I’ve ever been was the Hooters in the basement of the Frankfurt airport. Hefty, surly fräuleins.  One good beer and I was out.

Chili's is absolutely crushing it. Sales are high, stock is up, everyone is loving life at Brinkers.

Everybody is forced. There's no skinny people left.

Man oh man there is no better proof of that than watching an old episode of The Price Is Right with Bob Barker from the 70’s and then watch a current episode with Drew.

The audience difference is unreal.

Did you at least find out their usernames? Some of your fellow posters may not be as prejudiced.

I'm speaking on behalf of fellow posters only, of course.

Gen Z fuckin' loves Chilis for reasons that I don't really understand.

That said, I'm an elder Millennial and we're notorious for our disdain in chain places.

The last time I went to a Hooter's was during Oktoberfest in La Crosse, Wisconsin.  It was the only place that didn't have a wait beyond 15 minutes.  You would have thought that they could have busted out some German beer maid outfits for the occasion, but nein.

Yo, horny dudes, it's Chapter 11 not 7.

Yeah, Hooters isn't dying or anything.

After actually reading the AP article on this that's hidden in the screenshot above, what's really happening here is a group of franchisees that includes the original founders are buying the Hooters brand back from the dipshit private equity fund that drove the brand into the ground.

So if anything, Hooters is likely to return to greatness here.
