Regarding the GoFundMe conversation, why does it matter if the family is going to use it for funerals or therapy or if they are going to use it for food or enjoying time with their family or whatever. The parents experienced a horrible loss, if making their life easier by providing some financial gifts (even if it was already relatively easy in your eyes) is something an individual or a community wants to do, what's it matter to you? It's not your money.

...so hookers and blow.

Seems weird for dad to start one on day his son was murdered.  And set a goal of $250k.  Apparently the kid lived with his mom also.

On a Reddit thread in /r/Frisco, so read it with your bs detector glasses on, it was stated that Melo and the victim had previous beef. That Melo told people he was going to stab someone that day. That the twins were known bullies. That the victim punched first, after breaking Melo's phone. The article says grabbed.

At this point, it just seems like teenage idiots being teenage idiots. Sad that someone died and lives are forever ruined.

Yup, regardless of what led to it, the guy using the knife will be rightfully punished as a murderer, unless anything comes out about legit self defense. The movie Friday is hilarious and goofy but John Witherspoon's speech about how kids in his day would fight but used fists and regardless of what started it or how trivial it was everyone lived to fight another day. Really sad that these things escalate to the ending of life.

The suspicion is that this isn't actually the family. I don't think anyone actually cares what the family does with any money they raise. This one just smells a bit and may not be legitimate.

To me it doesn't.  You have to go out of your way to donate and I've never been made aware or asked to donate to a gofundme outside a link in an article or thread like this.  No one is getting tricked outside of it being a scam and no way associated to the family.  Now if they convinced HEB to link their gofundme as a screen on their card machines, I'd fucking riot.

So.....let's say that all of that is true (I have no way of knowing whether it is or not).  The part that is left out is that Karmelo was at the track meet....with a knife.  That fact alone speaks of bad intentions.  And I note that fact is omitted from the recitation above.

Is it reasonably likely that this event is the result of the intersection of two dudes who had shit intentions and shit behavior?  Sure is possible.  And in light of that, the efforts to paint either one of them as an innocent angel are distasteful as hell.

Two shit dudes maybe.  Did they go looking for Karmelo?

I get that. I saw an interview yesterday where the interviewer actually asked the dad directly about a gofundme and he said "I haven't thougth about it, I'm sure somebody will set one up" which made me think this one is fishy as it was set up by the dad.

It seems weird that people everywhere conspire to piss me off, but that's exactly what they do.

i was the combative one here? lol ok. it’ll never not amaze me that you guys will be the combative ones, only to turn around and hive mind each other into convincing yourselves it was me.

1)i did not post a link to the end wokeness account, i posted a news aggregate link and a screenshot, and got a bunch of ‘fuck you’ rep.

2)i asked why i got those ‘fuck you’ reps, and i got more ‘fuck you’ reps and a wild amount of personal shit talk (btw the fact that the only disagree rep we have is a ‘fuck you’ seems wildly combative and designed to start fights)

3)i explained what happened in very simple, obviously true terms, and i got even more ‘fuck you’ rep, along with countless people serially negging me, and incessantly following me around the thread screaming, cursing, insulting me, and insisting, “he knew what he was doing!!!!!!”

then you guys turn around and go, “omg derka is so combative” when i respond in kind to the nine different people currently attacking me for accidentally posting a screenshot of a twitter account that they don’t like, even after i’d explained what happened. i’m the combative one here? give me a goddamn break.

I spent all day yesterday at my daughter's district track meet.

Checking in safe.

She did well-- she's advancing to area in two events (800 and mile). Didn't advance in high jump. No PRs but it was windy af. And kind of cold.

No stabbings. Lots of displays of good sportsmanship. Runners from different schools high fiving each other or congratulating each other at the finish line, etc.

The only time I neg you is when you neg me.  That’s it.  Actually there have been many times where you’ve negged me and I didn’t reciprocate.

Are there details on the knife?  I don't know the legality, but there would have been hundreds of pocket knives being carried by parent spectators at this event.  I wouldn't expect any of the athletes to be EDCing in their track gear though.

Yeah I just don't ever think there was any point where this guy would be legit fearing for his life. The "touch me and see what happens" is him goading the entire thing into happening. Even the rosiest painting of this situation looks terrible for him.

When I ran track, I carried one to cut through the tape at the finish line.

why the 250k mark though?  So he can take time off work?  I'm trying to sympathize here as I have kids but seems like divorced dad is aiming for a profit, IDK.

Mom wasn't wealthy if she and the two boys were working at a pizza place.

Probably the kind of piece of shit that would bring a knife to a fucking track meet and stab someone is also the kind of piece of shit that would go sit in another teams tent hoping someone would 'disrespect' him.  Lock him up and throw away the key.  Good riddance.

The woman and kids have to work at a pizza hut to make ends meet. Karmelo Anthony with a knife.

Is Frisco poor or middle class these days? What are the house prices like there these days? Where has everyone "flighted" to? Prosper? Celina?

Divorced.  Maybe dad lived in Frisco?  There has to be apartments right.  I live in California.  There are low k come apartments in the same hood as 10+m dollar homes

Yeah, I don't particularly care what people do with their money, but I do feel some distaste when the amounts are so large. But again, doesn't affect me, so whatever.

I'm glad you survived.  I stumbled into track when my son made the team.  I had absolutely no concept of how boring a track meet could be, especially a one-day meet.  He did five events -- sprints, jumps and a relay.  It took ALL DAY every one-day meet.  Drove me crazy.  I started driving him to meets and going back home to Austin.  Good luck, son, I'll pick you up at 6.

Saw that with my kid.  He got 3rd at district in long jump with a 20' or so and the guy who won had all kinds of technique and would pop a 26'.  I mean, it just wasn't a fair fight, most likely even if they DID have the same coaching.

I looked that kid up and he was signed to play running back for Iowa State or some such.  Ah.  Had to have a little talk with my son about his future.  "Study real hard."

My daughter* was at another area track meet in Carrollton with 3 other Frisco high schools at the time this happened, and it was the talk of the meet obviously. I went Wednesday and wife went Thursday. Thursday was like going to airport after 9/11 she said.

This dumb motherfucker keeping it real. Ruined his life, and fucked up things for everyone else. Having said that, something is off with the Metcalf family. They were giving interviews the day their son/brother was killed.

*No pics.

The absolute worst. Soccer has well defined time commitments. Travel is a bitch though.

HS track meets are a fucking meat market for horny teenage kids.  My daughter's HS track coach used to say that his goal for taking the team to regionals was: "No lives lost, no lives created."
