We put in an offer on our place in 10/2023.  Since then, every appliance except the microwave has gone bad/been replaced.  I had been annoyed about that, but now I'm feeling we got lucky because all that shit just got waaaaaaaay more expensive.

My house has a furnace that's original to the house (1976). I should have put a new one in last summer, but got busy and didn't. It's probably going to cost me $4-5k more.

It seems like the life of appliances have really shortened.

You live alone and cook for yourself and have the luxury of chill time.

I am still raising a teenager that is heavily involved in sports and extracurricular school activities but not old enough to drive. I'm always on the road.

Being a single parent is very time consuming. Which speaks to my earlier post. Sure, I can afford to take short cuts but there are a lot of people raising multiple kids on their own while working in manual labor jobs that can't.

I'd argue that for many families consistently eating "healthy" is a luxury due to the lack of spare time and resources.

No I don't, and even when I was a single father with a kid playing travel baseball and another doing all sorts of kick ass science shit I cooked. I taught them how to cook. The only time I have to myself is cooking.

It is about scheduling and planning.

Yet you have time to drive from store to store to store to find that perfectly precut carrot.

Quit being obstuse. I fit shopping trips into my schedule. Nobody but you ever said I drive all over the place for the sake of shopping.

I probably plan and schedule more around nutrition than most people.

Sure. Currently at a 40/40/20 macro split with a total weekly caloric intake under 17,500. Daily intake should fluctuate but never anything below 2100. Wednesday and Friday are heavy lift days so please up the calories on those two days. Beef is limited to weekends so M-F meal protein sources
should be seafood, lamb and chicken.

Please ensure all daily micronutrient goals are met. I don't take vitamins so everything should come from food. Vegetables should be included in all meals.

Pay attention to fiber/roughage because I like to take easy dumps.

Need 3 meals by 1 PM. First two should be protein/fat. Lean into the carbs by meal 3.

Midday meal should be protein and carbs.

Dinner should be protein and fat.

BTW. I agree with you and working with a similar group trying to do something similar in San Antonio.

I think you will like this. Going with the thread, cook beans.

For over a year, I pretty much gave up on eating out. On a whim and an early morning tee time, I stopped by Shipleys to grab 2 donuts and a coffee. The coffee was $4.99 for a large. Fancy ground up dirt flavored water. 5 fucking dollars.

They just assured that I will never go back there again. I hope that place burns down.

I hope all of these places charging the shit out of everything close down. Fuck them.

Bought the dog food.   My prepper gene kicked in, and I bought a bunch of dried food and canned goods and powdered mashed potatoes and condensed milk, sugar, flour and such.

And coffee. Lots of coffee

Bruh... are you serious?  Family of four, I'm the cook.  Precut stuff is ridiculously expensive unless you're talking about frozen vegetables.  I can buy a head of cauliflower for $2.89 or whatever it costs and cut it myself or I can get a bag of pre-cut cauliflower for more to get less.  It doesn't take that long.  Cutting veggies is not like resodding a yard.

Pro tip: Those pre-chopped veggies go on sale for 50% off after a few days.

I buy ‘em and freeze. I pull out a tub when making soup. The trinity with Cajun seasoning is a winner for beans, etc. The chopped garlic freezes well and I can break off a chunk and let it thaw/sweat in a pan with oil while I’m chopping stuff that wasn’t on sale.

Repaired my  breathable fishing waders myself vs spending $600 on some nice Simms.

Been a few years since I've had to look but I don't think you can get any of the US made stuff for $600 anymore.  Can still get the jackets for around that price.  Still easily a top 5 best money spent behind the essentials.  In typical fashion, I found a guy that gets a 50% off from them about a year after I broke down and spent the money.

I buy $75 Frog Togg waders off Amazon.  They last years.  Then I buy new ones.

I was on that path for years.  Too many ruined trips.  Bit down and spent the $$$, and have not regretted it once.  Forget the durability and quality aspects, the actual fit booties are worth it in themselves imo.
