Yeah, this is classic stage-managed dictator shit. They could have let him go back on the senator’s flight.

No they couldn't.

And both were unqualified to do the job. We must do better.

You’re an idiot. Biden was doing just fine as POTUS. He just could no longer effectively campaign because Americans are dumb AF.

I was listening to the press secretary talking about this and if I wouldn't have known it was her, I would have just assumed Satan was talking to me directly.  It's amazing that the "Christians" of this country have become full on followers of the anti-Christ.

We are fucked for the next 50+ years if not forever.

Really just that they have not explicitly done that to date.  Miller/Rubio/Bondi all go through the trouble of lying about the 9-0 court result, lying about the criminality of Abrego-Garcia, lying about the fact that our government is helpless in bringing him back.  They have not said, in simple terms, that the executive is above the courts in all matters related to deportation.  Just that the courts cannot direct the executive on how to conduct foreign policy.  And now that I've typed this, it really seems like it's distinction without difference.  So yeah... we are proper fucked.

i think you are on to something

the maga base "understands" the lies in that they can process them and believe them in a way that allows the maga base to continue feeling "everything is normal", i.e. the timeline hasn't warped or morphed

the party only cares about how the proles perceive the party and real words that truthfully describe what they are doing portray a reality that is undigestible for the proles

thus, the party is making the effort to lie instead of just blackbagging judges

I don’t care how he tries to spin this. If Garcia goes home, this is Trump caving, again.

Let’s take the win. Donald is no dictator.

Trump watched those old codgers light up Grassley at his town hall, and it gave him pause, which rarely happens. Of course he gave the okay.

maybe just like every other world leader Bukele thinks Trump is an easily punked moron who is doing a great job self-destructing the USA and was like 'fuck it, i've always wanted to be a hero, what do i care?'

The stories coming out about just how gone he was toward the end of his term? Look I think did a great job getting us out of COVID and he did a few other good things as well, but there's no way he could have done the job a second term. Yes it would be better than the shitshow we're currently dealing with, but I wouldn't say that anyone better than Trump 47 to necessarily be qualified.

Totally agree. I was telling my husband that it’s a bit of a sigh of relief seeing him alive and meeting with Von Hollen. I’ll take any win

Biden's corpse propped up next to the fireplace while his staff and cabinet run the country would be far better than what we have going on right now so you can take criticisms of Biden and stick them where the sun don't shine.

And really what needs to start happening here is have reporters say shit like "People are saying your weak by not being able to force Bukele to return Garcia to the united states. Do you think some of this projected weakness is going to affect your ability to negotiate with other countries for new trade deals?". Make it his idea to get him back to project strength since that's all he cares about anyway.

You’re.

Hard to know what to make of this, but there's noise that people are worried about deportations to El Salvador under AEA today.  Here's a lengthy thread about lawyers who say their clients in the Bluebonnet detention center (outside Abilene) are calling and saying they've been told they are getting deported.

1) This is the dumbest thing to have a constitutional crisis over.  I don't see El Salvador releasing the guy without a bribe.  I don't see the guy being released free on the US everr.  He'll get arrested and notice as soon as he's on soil, file habeus, lose, and get deported again.

2) The due process remedy the left wants already exists and it is habeas corpus and only habeus corpus.  Those notices are sent specifically to give potential deportees time to file.

Yeah we should just say fuck due process since we think we know the final outcome.

First they came for the alleged MS-13 illegal aliens….

(by the way he was in the US legally, married to a US citizen, and has a US citizen child) but yeah, he’ll get deported again because reasons)

One thing that this does demonstrate is that a US Senator, who, according to Trump has no power in foreign relations in general, or to this specific aspect of foreign relations, can obtain a meeting with both Bukele and Abrego Garcia.

That, then, puts the lie to the "I'm the executive, I have exclusive authority here, and I can't do shit, and you, the courts, can't make me do shit."

Stage managed or not, Bukele was either granted permission by Trump to do this, or flouted instructions not to do it.  Either way, it's interdasting.

It's not simply the lack of due process and ignoring SCOTUS's order, which is all very, very bad, but also it's the "where" specifically he's being deported to and held in (paid my fucking money) that makes this so fucking awful. Kafka wrote a story about this once. You should read it.

They are lying about him being a terrorist and a member of a violent gang. He has no legal recourse to defend himself. He is being held in a concentration camp (by definition a place to hold people with no due process). It's not like they simply deported him to his own country to live his life as a free man outside the US.

If you are of the opinion he was going to win a habeus case, his lawyers fucked up royally.

TIL only "the left" wants to not be illegally deported. The more you know.

Our very conservative SCOTUS literally ordered this Administration to facilitate his return so that he could receive due process. If THE COURTS then determine that he should go back to El Salvador, he can at least go home as a free man and not be held in a nightmare prison situation.

If you are okay with the Executive Branch ignoring the Judicial Branch and deporting people to concentration camps, then I can only assume you’re simply another stupid little authoritarian who wants to live in a dictatorship, which by definition makes you an enemy of constitutional democracy.

I'm not okay with it.  That's why I said this is the dumbest thing to have a constitutional crisis over.

Even if the whole thing was manufactured by his lawyers to create this situation or something like it (which I do think the odds of are north of 0%), this isn't the right guy for it.

I am a stickler for the process.  I'm just applying it to both sides here.  This judge should have originally told the lawyers to fuck off and file for habeus and we wouldn't be here at all.
