We have been already, but the meaningless softball games pre-empt our games almost every time.  🤬

I have never seen a broken metal bat. That’s fucked up.

I’m so used to playing with wood bats that the broken bat talk here didn’t hit me until this post. That’s incredible lulz

So tonight broke up the Harrison/Grubbs tandem thing that we'd had going for a few weeks.  I hope they don't use Ruger tomorrow and leave him in the Sunday starter role.  We may have to expand the trust tree a little.  Hopefully the bats go off to make it easier.

Seen several, including the barrel from an Easton greenie hurtling toward me on the pitchers mound.

Probably dre if he’s healthy.

You absolutely use Ruger if we are in position to take the series and the situation makes sense.

Schloss has shown he will chase wins at the expense of the next game, especially on the road. And I think that is a good mindset.

I remember like in 1992 that Texas had one or two players on the USA national team. I know Tim Harkrider was on it. Anyway, that USA team was going around the country playing some games. On the Fourth of July they came to Austin and played the Mexican national team at Disch-Falk.

You think the Disch is hot in late May or early June, try July. It was boiling hot. Most of us in section 2 got a notice we could get our same seats for this game and most of us did. The game was played in the midafternoon probably so people could do the fireworks shows that evening. Section 2 has no shade at that time.

Early in the game it was obvious the bats the Mexican team were using were not top-notch quality. They made a high pitch whining sound when they made good contact. Then the cap flew off the barrel end of a bat on contact. Finally, one of their bats just broke into like the bat tonight. It came close to hitting the USA pitcher.

I think Mark Marquess was the head coach of the USA team. He came of the dugout and talked to the plate umpire, and he called out the head coach of the Mexican team and they talked. Then Marquess motioned to the USA dugout and a manager or somebody with the team came out with several bats from the USA team's collection. They gave the bats to the Mexican coach, and they used them the rest of the game. I think they just let the Mexican team keep the bats. Pretty sure the USA team could get as many bats as they wanted, from whichever brand was making their bats at the time.

Yup.

Guy named Roland Virella on my HS baseball team sawed off an Easton Black Magic at the handle in one of our district playoff games against New Braunfels Canyon way back in the era of MTV and TRex roaming the planet.

Good times!

Great win, Horns!

Schloss' crackback on the Montoya jump/fielding-error (without naming him) in RF during Zonk's radio interview is epic!  Lulz.

Can someone share what happened and what Schloss said, please?

All he said basically was that the game was well-played.... except for that error in RF

Right-fielder/Montoya inexplicably leaps into the air when a single drops in front of him and it takes a weird bounce-- but not a bounce that warrants taking a big leap into the air, so he has to land, turn around, and go run down the ball--- and that error allows Texas to take the lead on that same play and never look back.

Dude thought he was going to somehow jump into the air, catch the ball off the bounce in mid-air and throw it in more quickly, or something. (??)

I didn’t hear the interview but the bases were loaded and our hitter hit a Texas leaguer to right. The RF (Montoya,UK) is coming forward to make the play but the ball drops before he can get to it by about 15ft. But, as the ball hits the ground it takes a right turn due to all the spin and Montoya tries to jump to the side to grab it as it passes him by and he whiffs. So, it appears as if he’s coming in for the ball and the leaps into the air to alligator arm this incoming dinky fly ball. It looked funny live because it was and we scored two runs. 🤘🏼
