Ruger gutting out 114 pitches despite not having his good stuff was huge. He basically had to give us 6 innings for us to have any shot.

El Bigote stepped up big time. Some good work by the pen also 🤘

It’s time to roll with Winfield in LF. He may not figure it out, but Jayden has no shot. Don’t blame Schloss for trying, you pretty much had to, but Winfield is the only one that could potentially give this team anything this year that can play that position.

Pig scores a run to take a 6-5 lead in the 11th.

Two out and nobody on for Georgia in the bottom half.

Then a HBP, sound familiar, a double in the gap in left center ties it again at 6-6, Georgia with a shot still for a game winner.

They both don't deserve to play. Winfield doesn't hit or get on base. Duplantier doesn't hit and gets on base at a rate a little higher than Winfield. Neither are good defensively.

Matt Scott must not be hitting well in the midweek sim games to not be given a shot at this point.

I've maintained all along I don't think he is playing meaningful innings for us this year, but with how bad the production has been in LF maybe they throw Jonah Williams a bone in one of these midweek games coming up.

With two outs and nobody on in the bottom of the 12th Georgia walks it off with a solo homer.

Fifteen games deep into their first season in the SEC, Texas is now in first place alone at 13-2.

And missing two of our top bats.

Whose lead in every game in conference until today and hasn’t been swept. They aren’t good but they play in a way that they are competitive against anyone.

Grammar guy: in my first sentence there, would either “who’s” or “whose” be acceptable? I think yes

*Who's

You're saying "(A team) Who has lead...'

I think this is prolly the right answer. Winfield has def sucked but there’s at least still the maybe. There’s no maybe with Duplantier the younger.

I’d be ok with us trying literally anyone else on the roster at this point.

He's not wrong tbh

And it's not just leaning into pitches.  The rule book says if the pitch is outside the batters box (ie over the plate or just off the plate), you have to make an attempt to get out of the way.  You can't just leave your elbow sticking over the plate and expect to get a base.   But they did.  The one time they were called on it the coach threw a huge fit and got thrown out.

I dunno at this point. They both have almost played in the same amount of games at this point and sucked equally. Winfield played more earlier in the year against worse competition compared Duplantier and still looked lost. We are up shit’s creek unless Jonah Williams provides something more.

May have already been discussed.  If so, sorry to repeat.  But on almost every pitch on the inside corner or closer UK batters turned their front shoulder toward home plate, making it look like they were trying to get out of the way while actually moving into the ball. That is not an instinctive move. It is something they are taught to do.

I mean that’s how you avoid getting hit in the face on an actual inside pitch but I get your point.

We have a nice conference schedule with the heavy hitters coming to Austin and our away series to the bottom half of the conference.

Rankings are going to change, but as of now we're on the road to 1 Arky and 19 Okie.  We have 11 Auburn, NR A&M (lol) and NR Florida at home.

Preponderance of the bulk of the majority of the upper half of the conference opponents are, or have been, at home, then. That wishy-washy enough for your taste?

Under the rules the fact that a pitch is a strike, either by virtue of being in the strike zone or the batter swinging at it, overrules the fact that the batter was hit by the pitch.  Even if the batter makes an attempt to get out of the way, if he is hit by a pitch in the strike zone, no base is awarded

I wasn't trying to be contrary, I thought you were referring to our remaining conference schedule.

This. There has to be someone on roster that can do better. I would at least try until I went through fucking everyone.

I mean anyone closing their eyes and swinging might get a few more hits than Dup at .120.

Yeah, if he didn’t have plus speed, he probably wouldn’t have made the roster this year. Granted, we certainly didn’t foresee Winfield sucking this badly. Dup wouldn’t be playing had that not happened.

Texas is a virtual lock to host at this point. Already have 12 SEC wins. Should get five more plenty easily. Belyeu should be back to full strength for a regional too. Then, time to fuck shit up in the postseason.

If he'd moved to the other dugout this weekend he'd have had at least one HBP.
