I mean, he is. But, and I feel like I say this every year around this time, I completely understand why his jackassery has cost him the on-court reputation that he should have.

No, he isn’t. He’s a great defender, but top five all time he is not.

He's top 15 at worst. I'm comfortable putting him top 10 and I can make a top 5 case.

Don't get me wrong - I fucking loathe the Ws - but I'm a student of the game and I recognize his place as one of the all-time greats.

Four titles across 3 different rosters. It's not like Steph has ever played D. They've never really had a rim-protector (Bogut 2015 maybe?).

He and KD dragged that 2020 USA roster to Gold.

Dude, that last point on USA basketball is about to make me break shit. He didn’t drag shit to fuck. He came off the bench, his play was largely maligned, and played 17 minutes a game.

My bad I'm just bullshitting, killing time until Simmons/Russillo tonight.

Green and Thompson running headfirst into the Warriors defense and expecting to make a prayer shot is insane.

Can we vote Houston out of the playoffs, survivor-style? This is basketball terrorism.

And yet...they still might win this game.

19 offensive rebounds for Houston (compared to 3 for GS).

Kuminga gonna get the DNP-CD tonight isn't he

Steve Kerr has absolutely destroyed the development of probably a dozen young dudes. Maybe they were never destined for shit and Kerr realized that early, but Kuminga not being able to get any run when Podz is your 3rd best offensive player??

Yeah, it’s fucking weird. They don’t like criticism of it either.

The drafting and player development since the (checks notes) 2012 draft has been abysmal. The highlight from then on has been...keeping Jordan Poole relatively in check for a couple of years.

I think Houston still has a pretty shot this series.

  • Houston crushed GS on the offensive glass and I expect that to continue the rest of the series
  • Perhaps next game FVV/Green will be merely "bad" instead of "mind-bogglingly horrific"
  • Curry made several 3s tonight that, even for him, were ridiculous

But Game 2 is obviously must-win

Absolutely. This is going to be a slugfest. I feel like Golden State played close to perfectly, and it was still tight in the 4th. They have absolutely zero offensive generation from anyone other than Steph and Jimmy. I'm not sure who's going up hit 3's for Houston, but they'll do better than 20% on Wednesday.

The losing team scores today were 80, 85, 86, and Miami hit 100 even.  Y'all need some guys that can put the ball in the hole.

Conversely, defense does indeed win championships.*

*so long as you also have one of the best players on earth on your roster

To acknowledge that Playoff Jimmy is absolutely a thing is also acknowledging that he's taken off virtually every regular season of his career.

And no one but the guy cutting the checks (might) care.  Ever since LeBron went to Miami (at least for me), the point has been hammered home tome and again that if you can be counted on to show up for the playoffs, I really don't give a shit unless your team doesn't make it.

Regular season record usually doesn't matter much when the top players actually show up for all the games.

Draymond directs the defense. He is engaged at all times. He cause chaos and havoc. He guards 1 through 5. He protects the greatest shooter of all-time. He has never played with a good rim protector.

When someone like JJJ has won a DPOY you know it’s kind of fucked anyway. My vote would be:

Dort
Draymond
Mobley (someone has to be 3rd, but he is far behind the top 2 - top 3 if you count Wemby).

On the record here for FVV being a terrible signing at $40M/year.  He's barely 6'0" and not a good shooter.  To make matters worse, they took also barely 6'0" Reed Sheppard with the #3 pick and they can't play them at the same time.  Reed with the DNP last night.  I guess the good news is there is only one more year on his contract and the team has the option.  Smart move would be to package him to another team looking for cap space.

Jalen Green's new deal kicks in next season.  (Congrats, I guess.)  I wouldn't call him a bust but he's an undersized SG who can't shoot so let's give him 3 years at $100M.
