That's not very nice. My mom is a lovely lady who has been with my dad for 44 years.

Are you saying your dad still has to work hard to get some even after 44 years? Guess some ladies will always make you work for it.

Every weekend it is a different guy making the key hits or pitches. Williams should be the LF for the rest of the season, some kids are just special and the moment is never too big.

*Almost.

I have been to Omaha enough to already hate every trash fanbase in this redneck conference.

We are well on our way to being hated by everyone and I'm here for it.

Same.  This johnny come lately upjumped hayseed league think they're god's gift.

I was in Omaha when Ole Miss won it. Their fans seemed pretty cool. Of course, the circumstances there were pretty extreme.

So you’re benching/DHing Farmer when Belyeu returns? Where does A-Rod play since Mendoza will play 2B? Over Borba? These are great problems to have

Arod DH, Mendoza at 4, Borba at 5, Jonah at 7, Farmer as first of the bench option.

Fucking A that was a fun game, perfect weather and a walk off run- rule bomb that gave my group time to also grab a burger at Crown and Anchor.  Good times.

I almost felt bad for Auburn.  They had very defeated body language even before the seventh.  Just crushed.

See y'all next weekend!

We ate their souls.

Not to be a party pooper, but it’s probably the guy with 9 ABs that’s going back to the bench when Belyeu returns

He is gonna have 70 or 80 at bats by then. If he is hitting .240, then yeah. If he is hitting .340, then he is leading off and this lineup is ridiculous.

He won’t have 9 ABs by the time Max comes back. Farmer has been hot recently but he’s going to have to outplay JW or he’s going to lose the job.

Same thing happened to LSU.  Came in cocky and confident and left dejected and a horse face.

Did you watch the games, or are you doing that thing you do with recruiting sometimes where you stared at the stats long enough for them to tell you how to feel?

Some guys have it. Maybe JW turns out to be UT’s version of Gregg Jeffries or Carlos Hernandez or something, but in the first two games I’ve seen of the guy, his talent pops on the tv screen.

We can decry small sample size, but the guy was planning on signing as a top 10 round pick in this upcoming draft until he had one really bad showcase camp last summer, thankfully for us. His raw tools as a HS sophomore and junior were viewed as elite.

That and $5 might get you a cup of coffee these days, given how MLB is viewing HS talent, but it’s also enough to tell us that, maybe, wait for it now … good college coaching might develop that elite talent into a quality college starter or better.

I have no idea what you’re talking about with the recruiting stuff. The only high schooler’s stats I’ve looked at in the last five years is Arch, which I hope is understandable. Maybe you’re confusing me with another Bevo-inspired handle.

As to the baseball convo, there’s three parts: A) I think Farmer is actually good (.309 in SEC play with a hit in all but one game), B) Jonah has a small sample against some pretty poor pitching, and C) coaches generally opt for experience in the case of ties. That said, the things that have impressed me the most about Jonah so far are his eyes and discipline at the plate, even in his pinch hitting appearances when he was probably desperate to swing. He’s already in the top half of the lineup in that regard which is pretty crazy. That might be enough to win him the spot as his numbers come back to Earth. He should absolutely be ahead of Duplantier and Winfield, fwiw.

He clearly has a high baseball IQ.  Schloss said that bunt call was all Jonah.

This lineup with Jonah at the top and Max back would be insane. Arod 7th? Arod-Gasp-Borba is a phenomenal 7-8-9

I dunno about hitting him first. Where does Mendoza slot in if you have JW at 1?

it was predicated on if he was a 340ish hitter by the end of the year. where would you put a 340ish Jonah type player in the lineup? i think Mendoza is a perfect 2.

The thing with Jonah that will be hard to keep off the field with the way this roster’s constructed, is he is a LH bat with speed.

He also goes up to the plate with a plan from the first pitch of the at bat. Against Cade Fisher on Friday in his first at bat he took 6 pitches on the outer third part of the plate, worked a full count, and ultimately got rung up on a borderline payoff pitch. Basically conceded the outer third and said if you can go out there and paint 3 pitches without coming inside to me I’ll tip my cap and walk back to the dugout.

If you go up to the plate trying to hit everything you will windup hitting nothing. The fact that he understands that as a 17 year old who skipped his senior year of high school is impressive.
