They could push Spencer all the way back to Sunday if they wanted next week and keep Harrison and Riojas on schedule with the early series this week.

My gut feeling is they are going to be extremely cautious with this especially with our current record. Even if it is super minor, it may not be the worst idea to just completely skip him next weekend.

I’d be fine with this. Give Bing a shot. He has settled in really well since the first few outings.

I’m shocked that he’s still pitching, especially at the major league level. Thanks for the heads up

That dude was nails in 2018.

I’d much prefer Bing or Flores sliding into the rotation than taking Grubbs out of a role he has thrived in.

Speaking of Bing, my hunch is we may need him out of the bullpen this weekend with the good lefties Auburn has. Volantis being the only reliable lefty down there is tough. Mercer going down 3 outings into the season really hurt.

I agree. Here’s to hoping Harrison can actually go five for once tonight. Only done it in one (UGA) of five SEC starts. It’ll be all hands on deck today and tomorrow, if not.

I think people forget that he was mostly (exclusively) a reliever last year, right?  Considering that Harrison rarely goes beyond 5, I like the way the staff is setting guys up to succeed in 2 or 3-inning roles, which is how you win in the post-season if you don't have traditional starters you can count on for 7.

@Hookem2147 is Mercer definitely done?

I heard he had a setback a few weeks ago but not sure the extent.

Schloss mentioned after the game that the starter for Auburn today (Cade Fisher) was another guy we were in the mix for out of the portal and he took a visit here.

I am really interested to see the portal traction we get this offseason. We were close to getting Zach Root too before Arkansas supposedly came in over the top and offered close to 400k.

Feels like with the proof of concept and a full offseason to recruit we should be high on the list for a lot of portal arms.

I’d be reluctant to start Kade on the weekend. His stuff plays a lot like Ace Whitehead, which is a big reason why last years staff decided to throw Lebarron against A&M instead of Ace. Kade has a really good role right now on Tuesdays pitching against lesser competition. As we get closer to the end of the season I could see them scaling Kade’s pitch count back so he is available out of the pen on the weekend

If they do plan on skipping a start, start Flores and as soon as he starts to struggle turn the ball over to Max

I hope we get an extended look at Moffett soon. I’d even like to see them give Moffett a Tuesday start

I am a buyer on the secondary market and I don't get it.

Seatgeek tickets tonight below the concourse level are about $100-$140.  Tickets above that are $70-$100.  Uncovered seats down the line are $50-$80.
Ok great, demand is high, should be a packed house...

But ... last night I paid for reasonable tickets in the 100's, looking down the line, and there were four empty seats next to me the entire game.  I could see groups of 6-8 unoccupied seats all over the place.

Who is eating these tickets and why aren't they putting them on the resale market?

Who knows whose hands the tickets are really in.

there are so many games and the per ticket cost being so minimal to a season ticket holder, I can totally see a lot of folks, especially corporate holder, just not caring or dealing with the time to try and sell.

if in the hands of scalpers, I can also see them just eating the tickets to preserve a floor on prices.

Also think this being the first game on a Thursday all year had an impact (folks not expecting baseball on Thursday)

It's pretty incredible what the team has been able to pull off considering the circumstances, but it will catch up to us late in the season if we don't get those guys healthy.
I'd almost settle for sitting them all for a week and tanking a series if that's what it takes to have them feeling good for Regionals/Supers/CWS.

I’m fine with that, but it’d need to be on the road and NOT the aggy series.

Yep. I think the Athletic Department is very active in the secondary market. Not just in baseball.

Volantis is tall already and then has that super high release point. Ball comes from way up high and the hitters think it's gonna be in the zone and swing at a ball in the dirt. They don't have time to decide because it's too fast. It's a perfect pitch. Sometimes a good coach will tell them to watch for it, and then he just puts it in the zone. Great fucking style for a closer.

Schloss has talked a lot about how the field is highly crowned for drainage which exacerbates this downward planing from the mound.

Not that guys are hitting him away from the Disch either…

The secondary ticket saleas is a total nightmare. Seatgeaks processing fees where more than the actually seats, TickPick cancelled my order a few hours after. We literally walked up and got two ticks in row 7 behind homeplate for $17. The resell is garbage.

Yep. The athletic department partnering with Seatgeek is a fucking slap in the face.

I’ve never found that one is worse than the others. They all suck baaad. UT should find a way to natively resell tix and cut out these parasitic middle men

Pig beats Aggy 11-5 in the first game of a DH.

Probably good neither team will sweep that series.

Yeah, I think I'd be just fine with a 2-1 A&M series win, but I'm not gonna tune in to watch.

I’d like to see aggy pounded in ground for rest of year. The last few games have them talking about sliding into a hosting spot on TexAgs. Bipolar.

I'm concerned with UT winning the conference.  A&M has no shot.  Knocking Arky back farther is good for us.  I mean, I hate Arky almost as much as I hate A&M, so you know . . .

Excited to see Jonah show us his skills at LF today and at the plate. Huge moment for the young man.

Can’t wait to predict the direction of his career on these ABs tonight

Catch every ball that comes to him, 2 walks or a walk and HBP, 1 stolen base and one run. That would be better than what we have been getting at that spot.
