I know this doesn't directly tie in, but here is a map of the XII recruiting areas:

Where-2017-Big-12-Recruits-Came-From.jpg

1) this map is terrible

2) It clearly shows how the Big 12 lost out out the fertile Nebraska recruiting grounds when they left.

Ok, I missed this originally, but I am not sure how I've lived without this in my life.   This video has everything, but porn.  Which, now that I reflect on that, may be why I never saw it.

I didn't see any lead filled snowshoes but I'm blaming that on myself. I'm betting it's in there and I just missed it.

I know we all miss that talent rich Omaha MSA...

And this is the reason that no matter how much the fans want or how nutty Boren was, OU is NOT looking to bolt from the B12.  The Texas pipeline has always been their bread and butter.

I agree with you, as I know the abundance of talent, and appreciate the rivalry within/ with the Lone Star State/ University of Texas...

I can't believe that only 14 players came from Oklahoma and they have two teams in that state.

Plus, we got a QB from there... or did we get a TE from there? (Depends on the year that 2017 is applying to.)

Week 7 update. We didn't gain any land. Big change is ISU taking over WVU land. Our endowments have increased to 32B, but still second to ND.

1) that endowment thing is cool.

2) It's also interesting to look at real endowments on there.  Tech has almost as much money as OU?  Sad!  That's our number three system.

How in the hell is Purdue in Alaska..? Ohh well, polar bears need Boilermakers to stay warm, I'd guess...  Also of note, UT taking over pockets of SEC turf must really tick off a certain school 100 miles to the east...

This college football imperialism bullshit is only fun if your team never loses.

Not true - I will keep a copy of this weeks Historical map in my archives. It will help relieve the pain from one of those games that they lose; so I may need this soon.

Why does the map go back to last year?  The land bases can only grow bigger, and only teams that play that team can obtain land.  The premise of this is pretty stupid to begin with, but going back two years is just weird.  Shouldn't each year start with each team having their own territory?

Two versions of the map. A version that starts fresh each year, and the other that is a continuation of the first year.

Texas would also jump back onto the historical map:

It looks like UCF & Alabama might be the only schools that "own land" in their own backyard...

SMU says "hi".

I blame the NCAA placing a "death penalty" on the Mustangs, as to why I overlooked that obvious slight against SMU... (oops)...

We're back!

The fact ‘covid’ isn’t already in B1G and PAC territory on that map is really disappointing.

This is without doubt the single weirdest concept in college football weirdness

I assume you are excluding all things aggy. Otherwise this wouldn't make the top 100.
