I don't understand the game and why A&M has land but not ND.

Your land is given to whoever beats you each time you lose. The Aggies have taken land since losing their initial allotment. ND lost what it had when playing NIU and hasn't claimed enough new land yet I guess. If you beat people who already have a loss, they may have nothing to forfeit to you.

Indiana will never give up the Aleutians.....

Random fun trivia that some of you prob know: In WW2, a Japanese pilot tried to make a crash landing in the Aleutians, but snapped his neck on landing. The plane, a Mitsubishi Zero, was perfectly intact and the US was able to salvage it, fly it, and learn it capabilities. This allowed the US to develop the fabulous Grumman Hellcat, which quickly became a nemesis to the Zero.

To this point, yes the US actually was invaded in WWII and the fighting on the islands was gruesome from all accounts.

From what I read, they learned NEVER to turn with a Zero.  Hellcat could out climb and out dive the Zero, and they learned how unprotected the planes were.  What they gained in agility they gave up in armor and protection, especially the fuel tanks, which were not self-sealing as the American's were.

Maybe a dumb question, but can the US have been invaded if the Alaska wasn't made a state 'til 1959? Great point about the self-sealing fuel tanks. It really was ingenious, yet simple technology.

It's still US territory. For example if Venezuela invades Puerto Rico tomorrow, they would be invading the US.

Uhh by your logic the attack on Pearl Harbor wasn’t an attack on the U.S. as Hawaii wasn’t a state.  Both were attacks on U.S. territories.

The other interesting point is that many elements of the Zero were stolen from the experimental plane Howard Hughes submitted to the USAAF in the 30’s and was rejected.

The Wind Rises is a sweet, but somewhat whitewash-y film about the creation of the Zero if you're into Studio Ghibli's stuff. Definitely not their best work, but nice all the same.

On the topic at hand. looks like if UF somehow upsets UGA (lol not going to happen) we still won't pick much up the week after, but we would get Austin back.

To quote the great IceCube - stay the fuck away from our territories:

Ain't nothing to it but the floss
Overcrowding Harrison-Ross
'Cause if you fuck with ours

We leave scars

Did you know that Armybrat’s father fought in the Aleutians?

By that logic the US was invaded already when Japan invaded the Philippines

True enough, although it already had its own government and was in the middle of a ten year "transition to independence" plan, so it doesn't generally fully get counted.

With A&M's loss to SCar, there's no more land for us to gain until the end of the regular season. South Carolina, Texas and Ole Miss are currently the only three land-owning SEC schools.

I mostly find this thing stupid however I get a chuckle out of Syracuse having A&M & Notre Dame by virtue of NIU. Hopefully they keep it from Miami this weekend

If we defeat A&M and Georgia defeats Georgia Tech, we'll have a chance to gain land in the SEC title game with a win over UGA.

Gave up their land to ND in week 1 then proceeded to give the remainder to SCar and have been serfs since.

Well actually the Japanese invaded the Philippines on December 8, 1941, the day after they attacked Pearl Harbor.  It was ten hours after the attack in Hawaii.  International date line and all.  They launched a surprise artack on Vlark Field and destroyed most of our planes on the ground.  You’d have thought maybe we should disperse the planes.
