This isn’t that hard.  Just do what’s right, and get it done.

Like tomorrow.

Hell let’s say UM is hired and stays 5 years.  Revenue would be nuts.  Gameday back in Austin once a year.  Etc, etc.

I don’t think I’ve seen Mark Stoops on any list yet.  Guy can flat out coach, but doubt he would come here.  He is my new Mullen, a good coach over performing at a typical doormat.  Not sure he would win national titles, but he would win a conference title or 2 here.

Could be wrong. But Urban won’t be as expensive as we think. And, again, I could be embarrassingly wrong. Just have a hunch...

How awesome would it be to sign Urban for $7.4m/yr UNguaranteed and watch him kick aggy's ass in recruiting every year?

Wtf does what is happening with Dallas have to do with Urban's availability?

BoB when he was the  HC would just trot JJ Watt out there over and over and over and the Mcnairs would applaud and all be be right and there would be light. To be fair, I have never seen a team waste talent like the Texans. In my football watching life. Browns and Bengals are a close one. But in terms of wasting JJ Watt. See his brother and the other one? Holy shit!

To what end? I’m just kinda done with fake news and conspiracy theories. You can coach or you can’t. If it’s a black QB thing, Watson has more talent and character in his pinky finger than the dumbass McNairs.  A coach is always looking for his next job (set money or not) ego does apply. And the last thing BoB wants on his coaching tombstone is “hey I traded Hopkins for a bud light!” And btw Texans have no number one or two picks in the draft next year bc I dealt them. He looks sketchy and a dumbass mark. A mark to anyone savvy enough to understand the draft. That is how dum the McNair family is. They hired BoB

Did hear some decent scoop from the small contingent of BMDs we have left in the Panhandle area. Not that anyone cares but they have ponied up their money. Hopefully we don’t have egg on our faces.

I came to this board in need of Herman firing scoops and hot takes. Instead I find pay stubs for insecure male nurses and the subsequent destruction his hopes and dreams. Here's my contribution:

According to few weeks of conversation I had with a friendly St David's nurse, she said the male RNs try to be bossy but immediately turn submissive when proven wrong, and they often are wrong. She also noted that a few always try to show off their tattoos and talk about their 'sport cars.' Funny enough I met one at a Covid BBQ when I was this gals date over the summer, he drove an impreza with a spoiler. Great resale value apparently, hah. Taller nurses are married apparently. Under 6'. Not a chance. He was prob 5'5".

Anyways nurses are glorified pooper scoopers unless you work your way into a PA or NA position, or anything else surgical.

In case more folks are looking for names in CDC's history, here is his bio from TexasSports and a listing of where he has been:

  • TCU - 09+
  • Rice (06-09)
  • Arizona (00-06)
  • Washington State (98-99)
  • Cal Poly (94-98)

Undergrad at UC Santa Barbara and Masters from Washington State (because this seems like the kind of convoluted shit that IT may somehow tie a person to "they were both at UC Santa Barbara together")

For what it's worth, the full overlap between Franklin and CDC appears to be the 1 year Franklin was a TE Coach at Washington State (1998) when CDC was the Assistant AD for External Operations.

Yeah, Urban Meyer who has literally 30+ years of coaching experience at the College Level and 0 at the NFL level is going to suddenly make the jump at age 56!

I don't think that's correct /Norm

I can’t decide whether there’s anything to the stuff I’m hearing but it’s certainly not coming from the UT side. One of the things going on is that the (now adult, I believe?) daughters do not want him to return to coaching.

I have two daughters that I love dearly and they are both as alpha as it gets, and I can’t fathom either or both of them convincing me not to do something I know I damned well that I want to do. Who knows though?

Just from what I’ve heard that’s publicly available from people in the media (Matt Leinart, Heather Dinich, etc) this seems like it will be the most likely reason if we don’t get Urban. I have long rolled my eyes about Urban’s “health concerns” but there may be something to them. The guy has always looked completely miserable and stressed out while he is coaching and that’s got to take a toll on you. I can definitely see how he may think that he now is living the good life with his family, and not want to jump back into the volcano. He may look at the example of Bill Cowher and think that’s not so bad. Of course, I have never been driven to achieve at the high levels that he has, so I can’t speak to how that drive would override concerns for a more stress free work-life balance. If he does want the chance at winning a MNC at 3rd school and cementing his place in history, coming to Texas at this time would be one of his last best opportunities for it.

Urban's brain cyst is real and stress makes it worse.  His family doesn't want him to coach again due to the stress.  I think this opportunity is presenting itself a year or two earlier than the ideal timing given that he has been retired from coaching for less than two years.  The family opposition may wane with time.

All of that said, I would not be shocked if Urban takes the job as it may be the best opening in college football in the next five years.  If he has decided he is going to coach again, he might as well take the prime opportunity when it is available.  He absolutely would extract maximum compensation from Texas and any thoughts to the contrary are absurd.  He will require at least $15 million per year for him and his coaching staff plus a few million more for his administrative staff.  This is likely his last opportunity to take care of everyone close to him and it will take some cash premiums to pry his desired targets from their current positions.  Texas is desperate and he has extraordinary leverage.

If the first and third part are true - why is he demanding less than the Alabama, Clemson, and aggy staffs currently get?

What is Texas' maximum compensation package?  I and you have no idea, but it better be competitive with the top end and $15 million is.

I haven’t really seen any discount talk.  Urban may not cost a lot more than some of the other alternatives as there is no buyout and he’d possibly keep four of the coaches.

You’re still looking at paying 8-10 million annually.

bucky just now said all you’re getting out Herman is excuses whether it’s covid, which effected everyone, new coaches, and etc. the reason he has 7 new coaches is because of Herman himself.

and how dumb Herman says yes seeing great things from the team but no one else has

basically compared Herman to aggy as well about moral victories and celebrating almost being there.
