Also on the topic of Aggie moral/character superiority, I find it sort of amusing that their pitching coach Jason Kelly bailed on Washington in year 2 after going 19-31 as the HC.

Left Washington high and dry to chase a bag and what he felt like was a better opportunity. I believe some would even venture to file that under the category of “career choice”

I remember this play happening last year between Kash and Gasparino but what is weird is generally you will see the runner try and avoid the 1st baseman. I know Kash catches the ball and drifts into the baseline but it still isn’t often you see a runner just obliterate the 1st baseman in situations like this. I feel like there is even more to it than this play last year.

There is more to it. Cash is a cunt. That’s the more.

I mean, this guy rants about how much he hates Schloss and then basically gives him the keys to @South Austin’s mom. I’m so confused.

“Fuck you, I hate you, hey please fuck my wife.”

These guys are real stupid, news at 11.

Well then they should feel bad for hiring our hitting coach. The worst type of people.

I had an aggy text me last night that UT could only beat them with "their" coach.

Not TCU's coach...aggy's coach. These people are stupid.

Poooor Earley:

Etheridge: Mendoza, Burns key Longhorns’ series-clinching win

AUSTIN – As has been the case all season, Texas continues to make the pitches when needed to win games. Texas A&M got its first two leadoff runners on base in the eighth and again in the ninth, but both times Texas pitched out of it to win 3-2 to clinch the series and claim the Lone Star Showdown trophy.

Texas won the opener 2-1 Friday when it stranded the tying runner on base in the ninth. The theme continued Saturday as Dylan Volantis caught Terrence Kiel II looking to end the game for the second consecutive day.

“I thought today was almost a carbon copy of last night,” said Texas coach Jim Schlossnagle. “The game came down to Ethan Mendoza getting two big swings.”

The leadoff man, Mendoza, playing DH as he recovers from a shoulder injury that is prohibiting him from his usual second base spot, went 3-for-4 with a double, a homer, and two RBIs. He was the bulk of the offense, getting three of the Horns’ seven hits. Texas also scored a run on a misplayed catch on a stolen base.

“He was not supposed to go,” said Schlossnagle as they missed a sign due to some changes necessitated by the familiarity between the coaching staffs. “Sometimes things fall in your lap.”

The Longhorns, now 18-2 in SEC play, have won every series all season and lead the conference race by four games. They have endured injuries to star outfielder Max Belyeu and ace starting pitcher Jared Spencer. Still, they find ways to succeed.

In a one-run game, Texas is at its best. Pitching has been the story, as the Longhorns lead the SEC in pitching in conference games.

Starter Luke Harrison worked six innings and allowed only four hits and a run. He struck out six and walked one. Thomas Burns lit up the radar gun with several 98s and one 99 in two innings. He allowed one hit, one run, and two walks to go with three strikeouts.

Burns, like Mendoza, is an Arizona State transfer who is flourishing of late. Burns played a pivotal role in the eighth. A&M had first and second with no outs. Burns got a fly out, before striking out Caden Sorrell on a 99-mph heater, then fanned Bear Harrison at 98 mph to end the threat.

“His velocity is way up and he’s riding his fastball,” Schlossnagle said.” To sneak one by Caden Sorrell is really tough to do. To get three in a row past Harrison is tough as well.”

Volantis entered in the ninth with runners on second and third with one out. The freshman southpaw, who threw 40 pitches Friday, got pinch-hitter Hayden Schott to ground out to second (or short right) into the shift. That scored a run but limited the Aggies to one final out.

Volantis got Keil looking for the second consecutive night.

“They mix pitches and fill up the zone,” said Earley. “We hit some balls well but couldn’t get anything to drop. In order to get balls to drop, we have to hit more balls hard. We lowered our odds by not doing it consistently.”

For Schlossnagle, Saturday was not as difficult on him personally as Friday’s opener.

“Yesterday was horrible, especially at the first of the game,” said Schlossnagle. “Today was normal. I did get to talk to some of the guys over there and talk to Mike for a long time. We won but other than that, the best part of the day was to get to catch up some of those guys.”

After a relatively uneventful game Friday, considering the pregame animosity, Saturday featured a dustup that resulted in the ejection of Texas A&M’s Gavin Kash who will also miss Sunday’s finale as part of the ejection penalty.

Kash entered as a two-out pinch-hitter in the seventh inning and flied out. As he left the field, words were exchanged between Kash and the Texas dugout.

After the game, Earley explained that Texas center fielder Will Gasparino was the other party. Kash, a former Longhorn as a freshman, was involved in an altercation with Gasparino last season while playing at Texas Tech.

“Ridiculous. That’s what it was,” Earley said. “It wasn’t instigated by Kash at all. It was instigated by their centerfielder. Our coach heard it. Gavin was ejected and because of that, I lose the guy I was going to start at first base tomorrow. It is a really tough thing in a game where the margins are so small.”

“I didn’t really see it,” Schlossnagle said. “I hear a bunch of barking, which is normal, and I saw Kash yelling at our dugout. I don’t know who instigated, but they warned both teams.”

Texas A&M got a great start from Justin Lamkin, who went 5.1 innings and allowed four hits, two runs, one earned, with two walks and eight strikeouts. Kaiden Wilson worked the final 2.2 innings. He allowed three hits and one run. He struck out four with no walks.

The Aggies have pitched well this weekend, but have not been able to solve the Longhorns’ pitching that has held the vaunted lineup homerless.

“We can win games without hitting home runs,” said Earley. “They have a really good pitching staff. We are battling just like they are. We are one swing of the bat away and we are not getting it. They are. They have really good pitchers and we put pressure on them. We just couldn’t come up with the big hit.”

The Aggies’ series loss snaps a three-game weekend winning streak with victories over Tennessee, South Carolina, and Arkansas. While the loss, especially to Texas, is painful, there’s more at stake as the season continues.

“Every loss stings like you are ripping my heart of my chest,” said Earley. “We wanted to win the series, but we have other goals and other plans. We know the situation we are in. I believe you can see by the way we are playing.”

So is Kash actually suspended today? The announcers yesterday thought* he wasn’t because he was a pinch hitter?

There were multiple girls at the game yesterday that completely supported the aggy stereotype. Larger, wearing clothes that are normally reserved for smaller gals, and standing around with a not so bright look on their face. Aggy is truly an animal all to themselves.

Houston was amazing and clutch. But baseball has advanced. What Volantis is doing is fucking dirty magic. I really don't think we have had a better pitched in the last 20+ years.

That’s why I made the compare.

Not a conspiracy, but I thought that that last pitch was definitely outside. That said, it’s fun to ring up a batter to end a game after the Top of the 9th for the home team in front of a fairly packed crowd.

I'm not being facetious, I truly believe Schloss will bring us a championship. He's at his dream job, we're a blue blodd, kids want to play for a winning program. We already have the #1 class coming in, I believe. We are set. We have some ballers ready to roll.

Way to go out on a limb there bro.

One day they’ll send us on the road to “tu” too and it will all be right in the world.

those records are deceiving, they include 18-2 Texas for Aggy and don’t include 18-2 Texas for the sips.

Outside or not with 0-2 count a batter should protect the plate and not put the game in Blue's hands.  I didn't anyone complaining but bunting with Royo.  He alone has as many or more hit this weekend than their entire staff for both games played.  These folks over there are delusional and can't recognize the issue is staring at them in the mirror.

How do they explain being swept at home by Bama, swept on the road against Vandy, and losing series at home 2-1 vs Kentucky? That is 1-8 with two of those at home. They are trying to show evidence that a tougher schedule is what causes the discrepancy in record, but clearly those 3 series had nothing to do with toughness of schedule.

What is truly remarkable, even by the subterranean standard of “Aggy Logic” is their failure to recognize that there is literally a +/-10 game swing in each of our W and L columns generated solely by us playing each other. Remove us from their schedule and them from ours, and the opponent’s records are within a couple of games of being the same.

Essentially, this line of whining boils down to them unknowingly bitching about have to play the best team in the conference

I love the fact that Billy has some level of sportsmanship and understanding about how serious to take the rivalry, and his subscribers hate him for it. How dare you fraternize with the enemy!  Probably drafting letters of recommendation for a court martial addressed to miss rev every time a pic like this gets out.
