I remember two, one across the middle where he was wide open and one downfield (near the endzone) which was almost intercepted because he didn’t put it in front of Smith.

The one in the middle to Smith was a TD-in-waiting. Looked like one LJ woulda caught, but Jake isn't used to being called upon to have an absurd catch radius... yet. It'll happen, and instead of LJ's 10-15 YAC, we'll see six points more often.

While he’s turned into a good to very good overall college qb, his release and zip on quick hitters/screens are keeping the offense from maxing out. Seems like the ball takes about a half count too long get to the receiver giving the D a step. Could be that alignment/spacing isn’t helping, but we now have playmakers outside that only need that one step on the D.

There was a throw to to the bottom of the screen that seemed to take forever. I know it was a long throw though.

Smith needs to get better at adjusting to the ball so the defender can't make a play on it.
He did well to break up the INT on one of them though.
Youre thinking of the wrong pass. Smith was wide open on the on I’m thinking of.

Wasn’t he sprinting on a crossing route and had a dart thrown behind him? There’s not exactly time to adjust in that situation.

Yeah.

Yes, it was one of the only RPO plays Texas ran. Sam has to hit that play going forward. It was set up nicely for a TD with Smith already in full stride.

Jonathan Vilma on CFB Live today, claiming Sam isn't a big game player:

i like how he cites the Maryland game but ignores TTU on the road and the RRS.
