I love that but have a hard time believing it is real.

#10

And especially #12

But who knows.

I've seen #12 before, just not often.

Close game, you're up 3-7 points, you get pinned back with time winding down. If it's 4th down on your own 1 yard line with 10ish seconds left, do you punt it and risk a punt block touchdown? Or do you have the QB run to the back pylon, waste all 10 seconds and step out the back of the end zone for a safety on the last play of the game?

Ten seconds is probably longer than you think it is. Your wife or gf probably thinks it's a lot shorter than you do, though... so there's that.

I was told that South Austin's mom had a strict time limit to keep...

Backup quarterback. Best job in professional sports.

Not really. You’re doing everything the starter is without the glory. You have to be ready at a moment’s notice. The best job is practice squad player. You only work Monday-Friday, and you don’t travel.

Sam to the Broncos is definitely a better option than Russell Wilson.

1) Helobious must be pain free and not have any CTE worries... (unlike Sam after playing under Herman).

2) I don't think that Sam is going to really be a "backup QB" in the traditional sense.

I think that Sam is going to become a hybrid "backup QB"/H-Back/Wildcat QB. I can't recall Sean Payton ever having a QB in the pipeline that couldn't throw that well, but was still solely a backup QB. If you couldn't throw that well, but were on a Sean Payton-coached team, you had to be a jack of all trades.

Sam is at the point of: "Either evolve, or you're done in the NFL." Sam has apparently chosen to evolve.

Disagree. You do everything the starter does without the hate and with luck, you can stretch it into a long career at a good salary without the CTE.

It's astonishing how often you get things completely wrong.  Whose sock are you?

Except he had 6 contract offers and is obviously well liked in the ownership circles and a known hard worker.

Jim Sorgi was the backup to Peyton Manning. He was franchised at least once for sure. Practice squad guys don’t make much.

I literally posted nothing wrong. Practice squad players don’t travel with the team and actually aren’t even allowed on the sidelines at home games. Your workweek is just Monday-Friday and you’re making good money playing football still.

The amount he would make as a backup absolutely dwarfs what he would make on the practice squad.

Practice squad players clear at minimum $220k a year if they last the entire season. The median yearly earnings for a person in America is roughly $65k. It’s a really good fucking job if you can get it.

League minimum for making the roster in the NFL is 840k, and it goes up every year, after your 4th year it's more than 1.1M per.

So, I would say it definitely is way way way fucking better to be a backup QB.

Max practice squad earnings are just under $400K per year, and that's for 3-year veterans and beyond.  Sam has already tripled any practice squad earnings he could have made over his first 4 years, and I seriously doubt he signed with the Broncos for less than $400K.  I would assume he's well above $1M.  This is just Helo being Helo.

I'd be absolutely shocked if he signed for league minimum. I bet he's in the 2M+ range. (Agreeing with you)

Not a bad career so far earning a few millions as a 3rd string QB. Hopefully, he puts some of that money to work, and I am sure he will always be welcomed to the forty acres in some capacity should he decide to hang it up.

If you polled practice sq players, I bet 100/100 would rather take the job of on the team vs being on the practice squad.
