That's thru 4 weeks.  Didn't have Houston and Washington game so not relevant anymore.  Tyronn still a solid LT, but no longer elite because of his back.

Romo could   put on a blindfold, step on the field tomorrow and he'd be just as good as he was his last year as starter.

And he would be even more injury prone and would break in half the first time he's hit.

In all fairness, you're not allowed to hit the QB anymore. It's a shame these stupid rules weren't in place when he was playing. Just about all of his injuries were bodyweight blows where the defender also turned his body into the ground.

Good.  He's been pathetic and was a terrible hire to begin with.  If he was to blame for the Connor to guard, then he should never get another OL job in the NFL.

Doubt he had much to do with that. I've heard a whisper or two that it was more of Collins really, really wanting to play tackle because they get paid better than NFL guards.

Connor isn't  a left tackle in the NFL, doesn't have the necessary arm length for NFL rushers. Right tackle is pushing it. He may end up being a tweener that's probably best suited as a backup. Give him at least a full season to show improvement at guard, his best chance as an NFL starter. Collins and Leary had their early struggles as well.

He's taller than Collins, arm length is 1/4 inch less than Collins with slightly larger hands.  If Connor can't play RT because of his stature as you're insinuating, then neither can Collins, as maybe we're finding out.  Collins can probably be a pretty good guard and has flashed there.  Connor is very young and his functional strength is poor, but he'll probably grow into a position on the OL.

You just proved his point.   Collins has longer arms and is shorter.   It’s a wingspan v height situation when it comes to tackles in the league. Connor would get bulldogged by the 270 lb DE’s that have 4-8in+ of wingspan on him at his his size

There's almost difference in their statures.  1/4 or 1/8 of inch on either side.  They basically are the same guy except Collins is stouter at this stage in life.  Bulldogged by 270 lb DEs but supposed to hold up to 315 lbs DT like Short?

A DE is going to have a bunch more leverage at the point of attack.  Not that a huge, heavy DT won’t, but angles and length from the DE’s are a whole different ball game

I said he isn't an NFL left tackle. Right tackle, maybe, but the trend is going more toward to need to basically have left tackle types on both sides. Collins is a bit of a tweener himself and the jury is still out on how valuable he is as a tackle long term. The NFL is littered with Justin Pughs and Reilly Reiffs who come with the tag "versatile" because they played left tackle in college, and are athletic enough to overcome shorter than ideal reach. But they always end up and right tackle, and then after they fail are moved inside, then usually passed around the league as marginal players.

It's also why Zach Martin never was going to be an NFL tackle in all reality, despite the bullshit that was being played up by the fake draft expert bloggers.

I understand but Connor's athleticism, quickness, and feet may allow him to combat the angles presented and it may be easier to help him.  Instead, bigger, more compact and grossly stronger guys like Short or Jonathan Allen are getting under his pads and simply pushing him back into Dak's lap and collapsing the pocket.  It's playing to one's strengths rather than his weaknesses.  As CW said earlier this year, he's not going to get any stronger this year.  Collins graded out much better as a guard rather than a RT.  It seems we made 2 positions below average rather than 1 with the idea.

Gotcha.  Was anyone advocating CW moving to LT?  RT, yes.  I think this is where he should have started but I tend to agree that he may be misplaced at LT at his age and experience.  Connor's simply going to take some time.  He is incredibly young and lacks functional strength.

I have no issue with Connor. He really should not have been relied on to just take over that guard spot from day one. It was going to be a work in progress. He probably needs a bit more bulk to play inside consitently at a high level.

Jerry Jones is just one of many strange millionaires that own a professional franchise. And subsequently surrounded themselves with yes men and lackey’s to the point of clouding the very qualities that made them their millions.

Being part of a national championship team at the collegiate level in 1964 doesn’t nearly check enough boxes to be chiming in on...well anything, in the modern game of professional football.

He has at the same time managed to make his franchise one of the most valuable of all franchises. Yet at the same time they have been swimming in quicksand since he fired the best hire he ever made. And the one guy who knew what the fuck he was doing. That is one hard headed mother fucker.

It’s sad the manipulation that happens to Cowboy fans.

Jerrah is now about winning at bank, not championships.

He doesn’t have to give up the spotlight he craves winning at bank.

If the team wins, others get the attention. I think he is sick enough to enjoy the shitshow while cashing checks and laughing.

Hiring wimpy whipping posts or dysfunctional players  also gets him off. Nothing else really makes sense to me.

This is a quote from a Todd Archer article. So yeah, Jerry is now urgent after being 3-4. Never mind being urgent after falling apart last season and writing those wrongs. Let's wait until the mid point of this season to really be proactive. By you know, firing position coaches! While the real culprits are still here.

"At 3-4, Jerry Jones remains confident the Cowboys can turn things around and the acquisition of Amari Cooper and the change with the offensive line coach speaks to his belief in the team. “I’m more urgent,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas. “Not that we shouldn’t start off the first kickoff in Carolina urgent but we’re more urgent because we dug a hole here and in order to be where we want to be - which haven’t diminished – that being in the playoffs, then we’ve got to get pretty, pretty strong in our success here. We don’t have time to here. We don’t have the room to wiggle here. That says a lot of the real things we’ve done over the past (few) weeks bringing in Cooper and the changes we made in the offensive line.”"

What's he supposed to say, really???  Oh, that's right, like the other successful owners, nothing!  Shut the fuck up, stop doing media junkets and start evaluating real "football people" to help this franchise remove the stench of mediocrity off them.  None of which he'll do.

Some more on Alexander...

Head coach on holiday at the World Series,  GM is probably busy signing the Indigo Girls to play at the Star.  Offensive Line coach is fired. And his replacement is Mark Colombo.   Sounds like a team poised to turn it around to me.

Curiosity led me to look up sack stats for the Cowboys recently departed offensive line coach, Paul Alexander.

In 2017 the Bengals gave up 40 sacks in 16 games with Alexander. The Cowboys gave up 32 sacks in 16 games under Frank Pollack.

This season, the Bengals with Frank Pollack, have given up 16 sacks in 8 games. That projects to 32 sacks in 16, same as the Cowboys last year.

This season the Cowboys with Alexander have given up 23 sacks in 7 games. That's 3.285 per game, which projects to 53 in 16 games.

The Bengals were 19th in (fewer) sacks by opponents in 2017 with Alexander. The Cowboys were 10th best with Pollack.

The Bengals are currently 12th best in sacks by opponents in 2018 with Pollack. The Cowboys are 24th with Alexander.

Not exactly scientific, but intradesting.

Imagine if they wouldn't have had to trot Chaz fucking Green out there (specifically against Atlanta) in place of Tyron Smith

imagine if they wouldn't have wasted their  2015 2nd Round pick on Randy Gregory and their 2015 3rd Round pick and Chaz Green ...or if they would have played their 2015 1st Round draft pick at corner from the beginning

Look at year over year rushing success too.  Alexander wasn't a good hire.
