That stinks. You wonder to what Degree this was preventable? Hopefully they'll have the Right Guard in place next time.

These pun tropes are really getting old, spice it up a little bit.

DEF systems are a pain in the ass, and trouble shooting them always seems to cost extra time.

We've had that issue on our fleet more than a handful of times.  It sucks.  Glad it was( only) 2 days for you.

Right now the def tank sensors are on back order. A driver I know is being told 7-8 weeks for the part to get in. What the fuck do you do in a situation like that?
I try to be smart with my money and can afford quite a bit of down time but 8 weeks with no money coming in would be really hard.. I would say 90% of guys out here would go under.

talking a friend we figure the only way to keep running would be doing the weight loss program. ( trucker speak for deletion of the DEF system)

People don't understand how fucking weird that is for oncoming drivers.

Hopefully it ended well?

I think that if I were in your situation, I'd order some of them mofos and keep them with you, just in case you run into a problem.   Are they super-expensive?

I was driving back from Colorado a little over a week ago coming down I-25 south between Trinidad and Raton, and some dipshit in a jeep was driving 50+ mph against traffic on the interstate on the shoulder.  Scared the shit out of us.  I just kept going straight because any evasive action could have resulted in a collision.

$20 is $20.

Besides overhead clearance, that seems like a prime responsibility of those escort teams.

Never done it and don't know their regs, but would seem to be some of the most fundamental shit there.

Driver should have never stopped on the tracks. If there's a problem, stop before or power through. But never stop on the track. Pos rep to the structural integrity of the blade.

That's awesome.  I'm stealing that to circulate.  Assuming the driver of the tractor survived.  Looked bad, but not fatal.

Diesel locomotive.  Diesel powered tractor-trailer.  Unleaded fuel convoy pickup.  Electronic train crossing, powered by coal.

In the middle of it all, a blade to harness the power of the wind for green energy.

The loser?  Everybody involved.

Someone screwed up on the route.  They never come 183 and make the turn.  They always come up Hwy 80 from I-10 and have a straight shot over the tracks.

OMG - what is that orange trailer doing at at the far end of the terminal?

Probably failing to get picked up and delivered on time.

I'd like to see the crane and rotator wreckers that it takes to clear up that mess.

I have no idea where my fascination with heavy wreckers came from, but this channel is a good follow. And of course Highway Thru Hell.

Speaking of oversize

JNHUVSH2IBHQFCFVJDV22WWWT4.jpeg

A truck hauling a large concrete beam got wedged under a Rockwall overpass Thursday, blocking traffic on a major road during the evening rush hour.

Officials said about 6:30 p.m. that the 70-ton beam was stuck on State Highway 205 beneath Interstate 30.

It was not clear how, exactly, the truck came to be in such a predicament.

Serious question: when a trucker fucks up like this (no injuries, no damage to the road or bridge that I can see, only traffic jams), does he face any legal or financial repercussions?

The beam sits on dollys that can turn. He had to shoot the gap between the pole and bridge. Looks to me like he waited just a bit too long to start his turn and ran into problems with the pole. When he tried to back up it all went to hell. Or I could be completely wrong. Haven't hauled oversize since '96.

Goofing around on Reddit and found this. Holy shit I could be the last truck, well at least I drove a Freightliner just like that one for Harold Ives.

Told ya'll my Dad owned a '66 Diamond T. It was a tough son of a bitch. Stumbled across this. The same truck ran the Safari Rally. Just noticed in the credits they ran a Hendrickson suspension. Ouch!
